What document employer will give you to apply for a close work permit after paying the fee?
Sorry for the late reply cafpr. Actually I had an immigration consultant that took my employer and I through the process so I don't know / remember all the details. I know I needed to fill out Application to Change Conditions or Extend Your Stay in Canada and in the box where it says "Offer of Employment (LMIA Exempt) No." - that's the number my employer gave me after they paid the fee and submitted the offer of employment via the Portal.

Here are some other links that might be helpful:

- Guide 5553 - Applying for a work permit inside Canada – extend, change conditions, initial and open work permits - online application

I'm in this boat since I was terminated from my job (because of COVID) but it's been hard finding a new job as I was on a closed work permit. Anyone else in the situation? Or knows other in this situation?

I haven't heard anything from BC PNP or IRCC though so I assume my application hasn't been put on hold but I still haven't received MR (AOR July 17, 2019; PAL Dec 2019, nothing since,,,)

New applicantvhere from student stream. Have downloaded the forms but not sure if I need to upload job letter since my stream does not require job. Apart from passport, PCC, marriage and birth certificates mentioned in the documents list, are there any documents like proof of address and proof of job to submit?

Hello, please can i use my provincial nomination certificate to apply for work permit? How can I do that?
I think it's best to consult the website of your Province's PNP - there should be instructions on how to use your nomination to apply for a work permit. For me, in BC, there is a work permit support letter that one could ask BC PNP for.

Assuming things haven't changed during COVID, in general I think there are two options:
- an employer-specific (closed) work permit (here is one link about it - but again, best to consult your PNP's website - I believe there should be more information on that)
- Bridging Open Work Permit (but make sure, among other things, your nomination certificate indicates you have no employer restrictions, and you have already received the Acknowledgement of Receipt (AOR) from IRCC

There are pros and cons to each option so you'll have to consider what you think is best for your situation - and read each option carefully to make sure you are eligible / those options apply to you.

I'm still waiting for my MR =/ (AOR July 17th, 2019)
I was hesitating to do MR as well, I see the trends that whoever did upfront medical got their CoPR especially true for any applicants whose AOR is JULY 2019 or beyond,
IRCC does not want us to do it, but if you did MR, they will give CoPR,
Normally they send MR in batch , they don’t do it these days for some reason, only one or two getting then and there, there are many JULY applicatants in this from , only one got it.
I did my upfront medical two weeks ago to avoid another locked down in case surging cases becomes 2nd wave? It s hard to be outside in the queue in the Winter to give blood at Lifelab to maintain the social distancing rule.

This is my opinion

Thanks for sharing cafpr, yea I'm debating what to do as well and if I should go do upfront; I feel like I'm seeing more people doing upfront recently. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!
