I'd like to know why I need it too. But CIC requests it. The letter in on the list of required documents for BOWP, and it is separate from the nomination certificate.
i am in bc, got my BOWP in july , i never submitted support letter. Sep 2016 applicant.

A support letter was not required for you? Because it is certainly required for me. Did you apply online?

I applied online and followed this 2 orientation:

1st: https://www.canada.ca/en/immigratio.../extend-permit/bridging-open-work-permit.html
2nd: https://www.canada.ca/content/dam/ircc/migration/ircc/english/pdf/kits/forms/imm5556e.pdf

1st one tells you who can apply for BOWP and list a few supporting documents that you may need.
2nd one is a document checklist. Not necessary all documents you may need, but ALL MANDATORY documents are listed.

My question is: while you are waiting for a BOWP application, are the applicant with implied status?

Did you apply on paper or through GCKey?

Thank you very much for the links. I see that a letter of support from the province is not on the checklist. It is, however, listed as a required document in my online profile. Was that not the case for you?
To your question, once you apply for BOWP, you are on implied status. You can keep working while your application is being processed.

The support letter didn't show up on my required documents. I am an Alberta nominee, maybe for BC nominees has different requirements, I don't know.

So, no news on my application. 19 months and 3 days up. Guess I should join the gang with people who are forever waiting. I have applied for gcms notes to IRCC and CSIS as well. My last notes which I applied on July 23rd, and got them on August 23rd show activity on my security on June 19. I cannot see anything since it was redacted under s21. So, depression is taking its toll. I dont know for how long can I hang on. Sighs :(

It is started I think so. The paper file location says Centralized Office Intake and 'PS'. Also, it says 'Security 1' and then everything is clear and s21 is written on top right corner.

Are you single applicant? Also which province? Can you share your detailed timeline?

How do you know medical expires? I had my medical request on March 1 and March 12. and then it was cleared sometime in late March.

So, since I need a letter of support from the province to apply for BOWP, I may run out of status now. They cannot guarantee they will get it to me before my current state expires. I probably won't get my PPR by then either. Really scared and frustrated right now. Even the province won't accommodate me and give me a single piece of paper.
I wish I could attach a screenshot from my CIC account to show that this letter is listed as a required document. Weird how I seem to be the only one with that problem.

do not worry , worry wont make things happen, and everyone will get it for sure , remember = patience is the key .
and we never know how much hard for some others who never share their pain and depression ,i myself going through very hard time and so much depression . its been 19 months and 5 days , 4 months since out of status and no work . sitting all day at home and thought today is the day i will get ppr , days goes by and by nothing comes except wp rejection and every hope is dying out there .
