Upfront medical using UCI:
Also i tried to do upfront but few of the doctor's office could not recognize my uci. So anyone heard/ran into this kind? Any ideas? Trying to see if vo is having control nowadays on when we should do medicals. ::)

Hi Guys,

I had a question I hope somebody can clarify that for me please:

The citizen ship act that is in effect since July 1st 2015 states that: "Physically present in Canada for 183 days (minimum) per year in 4 out of 6 years."
Before July 1st 2015, there was no requirement to be physically present.

What does it mean to be physically present? From what I understand, does this mean that to keep the Permanent Residence status you need to stay in Canada atleast 6 months in a year? Otherwise you lose your PR? Am I interpreting this correct? What do you need to maintain the PR status at minimum? Thanks for your feedback guys.

The new times relate to qualifying for citizenship. There is no change to the PR requirements (2 years out of a rolling 5 years physically present in Canada). There is also no requirement to go on to become a citizen - you can continue as a permanent resident indefinitely as long as you maintain the 2/5 rule.

Call +18882422100 between 730am - 8am. Press 3 and then 2. Wait and then press 0.

I have always been able to talk to them early in the morning. Never during the day.

best wishes.

Thank you so much for telling me this!! It worked! and I was able to talk to the agent, even though the lady was not helpful at all, but at least next time I know how to contact them.
thank you!!!

Thanks alot!
I have confirmed this from CIC's website. So it means complete 2 years in a total of 5 years and the time spent can be with split.
