Mine passed 16months last week. Called them several times, every time they say everything passed still waiting for final review, but it's waiting for review since August. I am June 18 applicant.

I know it's pretty hard but we need to stay positive; it's a weird advice coming from me 'cause I'm struggling with it but no choice at this point. In fact, I just wish hear good news before December, on the contrary I have to spend money for extend my and my partner visa... and, unfortunately put off my December holidays.. So sad... practice mindfulness is no giving profit...

Are you from or have been living (more than 6 month) the middle east? Just to think if there are certain countries where security check take more time than usual!

Hey guys,

I got a somewhat unusual question, but I really appreciate your help.

Should we let CIC know if we get a PROVINCIAL CONVICTION ?? I have checked the website several times and it only says we should let them know if our mailing address changes. However it does not talk about what you should do if you get a PROVINCIAL CONVICTION. I know a CRIMINAL CONVICTION will result in your deportation. PROVINCIAL CONVICTION won't result in you being deported however, I don't know if we should let CIC know if we got a PROVINCIAL CONVICTION or not. I have talked with several lawyers and some of them are not sure neither, although some say it is not necessary. Based on my experience, a lot of lawyers don't know what they are saying, so I trust you guys more!!

Thanks in advance

anyone wondering why the delay is ? - Reason: When I did my landing, the agent specially mentioned me that the PR Card processing time and the applications itself are due to the lack of resources, as most of them are focused towards refugees. This also means, the 45 days for PR card wont be satisfied as well!

This endless waiting drive me crazy. Called IRCC again this morning still same answer everything passed and completed just waiting for final review. He said he don't know why it's take so long under my case but there is nothing he can do just wait. Call back again if haven't receive it by end of December. Ridiculous and useless

Can you elaborate what you mean by provincial conviction? Are you talking about provincial traffic courts??

If the above is your concern, there is absolutely nothing to worry about as it is not considered "incriminating", however, if it's a DUI (which is a criminal offence under the Canadian criminal code), you might be looking at a possible cancellation/rejection of your PR application. Like i said earlier, if it's just ordinary traffic violation, like speeding, red light etc., it won't be considered a red flag.

Maybe, it was what delayed your application and then they were just busy and your application is in queue from then, like mine... I was living in Mexico and Venezuela, and unfortunately I know that in these countries security checks just take longer (beauracracy, inefficiency, etc)..

Thanks for your response. That's what I guessed as well. Its not a criminal conviction under Criminal Code of Canada. I have read the CIC website and also the application guides and everything. Can't find any evidence as if someone should let CIC know of he/she gets a provincial conviction. It clearly says we must let them know if we get married/divorced or if our address changes.

police caught me when my driving licence was expire 10 days ago. I got renew it now. so he gave me ticket. Does it count as conviction which is affect my PR application?

9.999% not. Probably you have to go to a provincial court to pay your ticket. If so, it means that your offence is not criminal and so it should not affect the PR.

that's not a felony. I think is not considered a conviction.

Yes I went to provincial court to pay my ticket.
