So I did my landing today.

Officially became a PR @ 8:20 am MST on the 21st of September, 2016

Left Calgary at about 5:30 in the morning and headed to Carway. Because it was so early there were no lines at all and I got everything done in about half an hour at max.

A few notes for those that are thinking of doing their landing at Carway. They are severely understaffed. Only 2 CBSA officers are posted to the border. If you have no dependants and if you go really early then you might get tru it really quick. If you have dependants or if you're going later I highly recommend the Coutts border crossing. They have more staff on hand whereas at Carway you are considered low priority and if they're busy then you're SOL. If you still insist on Carway still please don't take their tone too personal. They have been trying to get CIC to remove Carway as an official landing zone due to work load and lack of staff. But they've been getting the round around. They too have problems reaching CIC just like the rest of us. Stay calm and do as told.

Overall it was a very smooth process.

Best of luck to all of you and I hope everyone here gets their PR ASAP.

I called to IRCC today. I have to admit the person who answered was pretty polite it was a surprised after all I have read. Well, the point is he told me all is passed, only pending final review. I asked if he thought necessary extend my WP (expire February 1st), He told me : no, of course not. I'll be surprised if it take so much time.. don't worry you are going to receive news shortly. But We never know...At least he gave me a hope.. with his French accent "everything is GOOD"....

;D ;D ;D ;D ;D :P :P :P :P :-* :-* :-* :-*

really? He told you you would receive news shortly?? I hope he wasn´t joking with you. They shouldn´t give hope if they know it won´t happen.....

that's is correct. He used the adverb of frequency : "shortly", but depend on how one interpret it : 1, 2 or 3 months... No choice, just wait.

Thanks for sharing your experience, I am just wondering if you have to cross the border. As we know, there is a last chance billboard to return to Canada prior to entering US, which will also guide you to the CBSA office no matter if you enter US or not.

You have to technically leave Canada and re-enter. So drive/walk to the US border and tell them you are flag poling. They will give you a piece of paper (technical refusal of entry) and you bring it to the Canadian officer. This piece of paper will not cause any future troubles if you want to enter the US at a later time. That's it. I have it a few times when I changed my work permit.

I heard doing flag poling again and again is not a good idea, I mean, more than once...Any insight on that?

I have done it 4 times and I see no negative point in doing that as long as you are legally entitled to re-enter

After that, did you successfully apply any US visa?

Like it's been said you will have to leave the country. Flag polling was super easy and the CBP officer was really nice. Took all of 5 minutes to get me the letter and after that I just did a u-turn.
