I have been doing some research about background check and I have found this.

http://www.sirc-csars.gc.ca/pdfs/ar_2008-2009-eng.pdf

in the last page it says the average time it took CSIS to clear an applicant for permanent residency. between 30 days for overseas to 90 days to applicant within Canada.

it's update from almost 8 years' before. who know the current period.

Hello Everybody,

I am June 29, Inland applicant with spouse, Waiting on passport call. (Waiting is killing now :-\)

A quick question to all, hope some body can help or suggest me a correct path.

My spouse just came to accompany me here in Canada..Do I need to update anything in my file? (Change on address or whatever needs to be done ) If yes then what are the thing I should take care of it? & Does it needs to be done in certain days or what?

Waiting patiently on your reply. Thank you and appreciate your time in advance.
Waiting has been killing many of us but see, we didn't die..lol. Jokes apart, you should and you could inform them via the Case Specific Enquiry.

Hi Buddy!

Eventually Cic will ask u for update on Schedule A. Just wait till they ask u .

Dear friends,

I have recieved AOR today. But I did not send my PCC with original application of provincial nominee(inland), I told i wil provide later.
The AOR says:
"Please do not forward additional documents unless requested."

Shall I send PCC to NS office now or wait for their update?

Do not worry, they will ask you to provide.

And, "Please do not forward additional documents unless requested." - statement means do not send any optional documents which is not defined mandatory by CIC. You can send police clearance by your own even they do not ask, because it is mandatory, in that case you can use Case Specific Enquiry.

Now, its up to you whether you send before asking or after asking...

THIS IS 2015 APPLICANTS! GET OUT!

So according to this ... http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/csis-cic-checks-t67570.0.html

Applications for Permanent Residence from Within Canada

The Service has the sole responsibility for screening immigrants and
refugees who apply for permanent residence status from within Canada. In
2008-2009 the Service received 33, 837 such screening requests. Of these
requests, 21, 950 were immigration applications and 11, 887 came through
the Refugee Determination Program.

According to the statistical information provided by the Service, the
time required for the Service to issue a recommendation on an
immigration application varies considerably depending on how the
application was filed. Those applications filed using the Electronic
Data Exchange from within Canada took a median of 45 days, and
electronic filings within the Refugee Determination Program took 55
days. For those applications filed on paper, the median turnaround time
for immigration applications from within Canada was 70 days
; for
applications from the U. S. it was 150 days, and for paper applications
from within the Refugee Determination program 94 days.

So....if when our ''mycic'' background check changes to ''in progress'' meant that they started to check our security.....then we should expect a waiting period of probably 2 months.....
Let's see.
