Hi cupcakes, just wondering, do we need a US visa to exit Canada and come back?

No u dont. just go to the border and say u want to flagpole and land as PR. They wont even let you into US even if you have VISA. they will give u some paperwork and point you back.

I don't think so...but I had one. But I flagpoled, so I got a "refusal" letter from the US side. Apparently, that's a normal thing to get and won't affect future travel to the US...let's see.

cupcakes: So just to be clear. i go to the US border office and tell them i need to flagpole and land. They refuse entry to US and give me some paper and i walk to the Canada border office and land? Both the offices /officers are closeby? i am taking about Niagara

Yes, exactly. You need 2 quarters to exit the Canadian side (need to put them in a machine), and then walk across the Rainbow Bridge to the US side (walk takes about 5 minutes). Then you tell the US officer that you are here to flagpole as a Canadian PR, and he will ask for your passport and COPR. Then he will give you a white letter that says "refused entry to the US", and ask you to walk back the same way you came. Then you go to the Canadian side.

Do we need to drive?? I don't have a car yet. Can I take the bus to there and walk?

Excellent Thanks!

Is it high-time to get panic? I am on IP since a month and have no clue about my PPR or DM. I am from late May batch, so it has already been 13 months. This wait is very frustrating.

That's not entirely true. My daughter and Me have flagpoled before. The Americans let you in anytime. Regardless if you are flag poling or not. You just need to have a genuine reason for your entry into the US. Which there would be such things as: shopping, dining, visiting a friend/relative aso.

They won't let you enter the country for the mere purpose of turning right around. But you can go in and come back later that day and do your landing then.

The flipside of being a human is that we cannot regulate our emotions. If we could, then this world would have been such a happy place or equally morbid. So none of us can tell you whether you should panic or not. :)
You belong to the non-qa may-june batch in ottawa. Most of us have got dm or ppr n can imagine how frustrating it must be for you. But as u have already realised that cic works in mysterious ways devoid of logic n system. it varies with your dependents, application and luck. But since your medical received status is over and rprf, obviously u have passed the biggest hurdles.
You can always check your inbox, spam folder for any additional doc request or call cic. Although cic agents are no better than an automated machine. I got ppr directly after medical received, so hopefully you will too. I have a friend who was running 14 months because of some complications and had multiple doc requests. But eventually he got it.

how come that some people get decision in 9-10 months max, and some like u waiting for over a year and more, ridiculous time difference!

We can't compare it by apple to apple. Each case is different here.

I see. Thanks for your encouraging words. I am really hopeless right now. My representative said that he hasn't received any additional documents. So can't do much on my side now.

The same situation here. However, as devpsd said we can only wait. I hope that we get to the finish line soon.
I got IP only about 10 days ago.

Irrespective of delays and chaos, cic takes all of us to the finishing line because they need to meet the target processing time. For my friend, it was such a messed up complex application, they asked for multiple documents, he was outside country, he did medical from country of origin although he declared inland applicant, his rep forgot to send docs on time, then cic contacted him directly and followed up. it all worked out at the end. Sometimes it has got to do with the dependent's visa office as the bottleneck and they cannot give copr to primary applicant only. So it will work out. I am guessing by this month all may-june should be over.

Hmm, thanks! Your words are quite encouraging. Well, I do have a dependent in Pakistan, so maybe the delay is from there. I am just a bit scared. Want to switch my job and sorted-out few things as soon as possible.

Not again devpsd....... ;D
