For me there is only security which is not started and I see the initiate date as May 05,2015 and due date as May 03, 2016. It is exactly one year after creating it. My feeling is that we are half into the time line for security check. However, on the other hand I don't see a "batch sent" or any other evidence for security under the activities to show that CSIS at least received our files. So, I think our files are still with CIC and we should just wait. :-[ :-[

I believe everything is driven by Security check. The start and due date is exactly one year. This is the most time taking process and lucky people who skipped that.

Do you lack any information in these two forms?

Even though the processing has become very slow when compared to before (due to obvious reasons), it looks like CIC is still working on our files.. Hopefully we will get a huge wave of DM's & PPR's this week!! Fingers crossed for all of you guys! :)

Hello,

I am new in this forum. Many of you in this forum have gotten PPR and I would appreciate if you could give me advice.

My timeline is:
File received: 11 june,2015-Sydney,NS
Aor: 24Aug,2015
IP: 24Aug,2015
Inland applicant.

I wanted to ask if anybody knows about CIC`s passport requirements for permanent residence application process.

My children’s passports are expiring within 6 months, in the beginning of June, 2016. And I wonder, when CIO sends me PPR, will they tell me to renew passports, if they are expiring in 6 month or less by that time?

Does CIC issue PR cards for the period of validity of the passports? I heard that PR cards get issued for the duration of 5 years. Is this duration contingent upon the duration of passport? Or it is not related to passport’s validity period at all, and stands alone, irrespective of one’s passport?

After we become PR do we still need valid passports until we become citizens?
I could not find any links or answers in these forums. I would appreciate if you could share your experience .

Thank you

1. when CIO sends me PPR, will they tell me to renew passports, if they are expiring in 6 month or less by that time?
Depending on visa office there will be reminder email or sometimes specific email on asking to send them updated passport information if it expires shorty in 6 months.

2. Does CIC issue PR cards for the period of validity of the passports?
I assume you are talking about PR visa. if so then yes the visa stamps/COPR expiry for whole family is based on first passport expiry date (in the whole family). So its better to renew the passport soon within 12 months of expiry so that all members get enough validity of visa.

3. I heard that PR cards get issued for the duration of 5 years. Is this duration contingent upon the duration of passport? Or it is not related to passport’s validity period at all, and stands alone, irrespective of one’s passport?
Yes PR card is for 5 years. No its not depending on passport expiry.

4. After we become PR do we still need valid passports until we become citizens?
No, its not needed if one is not travelling outside the country.

for point 3, do the PR 5 year period start from landing date or PR visa issue date?

I need some help. Below is my time line.

SINP inland application (International Skilled worker)
Application sent on June 3, 2015
AOR received August 14, 2015
No updates after that.
My 3 post graduate work permit expires in March 2016.

I want to know, what if I do not renew my work permit. Can I go back home while my application is in process?

Thank you in advance for any feedback and inputs.
