Did our landing yesterday evening at Emerson Border. Got there went straight to the US side. We were asked why we were there..told them to do flagpoling for our PR landing. Took our passports expired and new as expired had our US visas in them. We were instructed to park and go inside building. Our refusal paper was ready in about 5 mins. We headed across the line to Canada.
The officer asked what were we doing today we told her PR landing. Her first question was why did we choose to come there instead of getting an appointment at Winnipeg office. I told her our letter clearly stated we had an option and so we chose the border. Her tone changed and she said okkk I just wanted to know why you chose the border.
She took passports sent us to park and go inside building to wait. The officer was very pleasant...asked my husband and I the 2 questions about criminal charges we answered no he said initial and sign both copies of COPR. We signed for our 2 kids. They asked me fr my expired work permit. I told him I didn't have any as CIC hasn't sent the renewed one O applied for from last year July, but I have the document number I got from them. He assured me it's ok he just wanted it to shred.
They put a line through the visas...stamped our copy of COPR in our passports. Read our rights and some other info about health cards..shook our hand said welcome home to us..gave my kids flags and said have a great trip back you guys.
We left feeling like 1000lbs came off our shoulders.

Hi Reidy,
Congratulations on the PR.

Hello my folks,
finallllllllllllllllllllllllllly, it ended...the headache of my 7 years continous struggle

I received my passport on 28 Jan 2016
went to Regway border on 29 Jan(last night)
i have heard troubling stories on forum about border and things
Believe me, i would request all of you to celebrate your PPR email as your PR
Bczz...
Border and landing is just a piece of cake and a thing to be enjoyed as the last trip of before becoming PR..
I reached regway border at 22:50...it was not a busy time at the border..
went straight to US border..as we were getting closer, they came out of office, and we slowed down , almost stopped for a bit, they signalled to come forward..."Hi, what are you going to do today", PR landing,
Okey your passports, please...checked the passport, passed them to another officer...told me to tell your driver friend to park the car there, and you come inside the office from the back..i went inside..asked my when was the last time i left canada..told the month and year, sorry dont remember the date.."its okey.."
So, do you have expired passport with you, ..i said, yes..do you want it, "NO". thank you..
Okey, so i have my US visa, if in case you want to see..before refusal letter, "No, i dont need it at this time", refusal is not a big deal, it doesnt go on your profile, rather it will say on your profile, that this is where you did landing and this date you become "PR- Canada"..okey, thank you..
"So here is the letter, give it on your way back to Canadians"..thank you and have a good night..
Canadian border:
-Hello Sir,
-What are you going to do today?"
-PR landing..okey..can i see your docs, passport..saw visa..and then asked me, can i see your copr..
-checked it..asked me to confirm the address verbally..while still in my car
-Do you have any dependents, no..great...ok
- Any crime, conviction...no
- Okey go and park there, i will come once paper work is completed
-Parked the car, started smoking..:)
- in 5 minutes, officer came back..told me to follow
- There was another officer, waiting for me holding my docs
- okey, sign here, sign here, initial here, initial here.date it..ok
- Congratulations, you are Permanent Resident of Canada now..
Here is your passport, stapled my COPR to passport
-Good Luck.. Thank you so much Sir
- Thanks so much to all of you..Good night
- Hugged my friend, on becoming PR..and we started back to Saskatoon
- total time:3 hrs and 15 minutes from saskatoon to regway(15 minutes break)
- total time in coming back: 3 hours and 10 minutes
--------------------------Officially Canadian now---------------------------------

So happy to see all the good news from a lot of the names in this thread that were active members throughout last year when we were going through all our worry and confusion. We did it together. Wishing everyone the best of luck with their new lives in Canada! :)

Hi Guys,

My first message here in this Forum.
Just got "Ready for Visa" email from Ottawa.

Here is my timeline:

Visa Office......: CIO, Sydney
Job Offer........: NO (But I am employed)
App. Filed.......: Jan 30 2015
AOR Received.: 27 MAY 2015
Med's Request: 29 MAY 2015
Doc's Request: 19 AUG 2015
Decision Made: 1 FEB 2016
Passport Req..: 1 FEB 2016

I am AINP applicant and single without dependents.

I am also worried about my situation because I am leaving for my country in three days and I only have one blank page left on my passport (They request two).
Anybody know how to solve these problems? Do they arrange other visa office for visa issuance?

Thanks everyone!

First of all, Congratulations :) Well, one option is to send an email to CIC explaining the situation and requesting an extension during which you can apply for your passport renewal on a priority basis. You can also call CIC Call centre and get their opinion.

What I don't understand is, If you have already made travel plans and if you already knew that your passport is full why didn't you renew your passport till now? Your passport is important for them to stamp the Visa sticker especially if you're from a non-visa exempt country. Discuss your options with a CIC rep.

I hope it works out for you..
Good luck..
