Has anyone applied for Work Permit Extension and worked under implied status while waiting for a response from CIC?
My work permit is expiring next month. My CIC status is "in process" from August 20th.
My question is, would I be able to get a refund on my work permit extension fee if I get DM or PPR before CIC extends my work permit?

Some provincial nominees got 2 year work permit while I only got 1 year.... and because of the election CIC is working really slow I am running out of time.

My work permit expired on september 21... ::) Applied for open work permit on August 17 and still no movement with my application. If you get your PR before they start processing the work extension (I think it is before "decision made", not sure) you can get the refund.

Hi, I am new to this forum.

Is 6 lines considered good? also how long does it take to reach dm if all documents have been received?

Yes it is...two things
- 6 lines comes on the way to getting DM or at the same time as DM. It is a good sign on account of the data on this site

I drove to the border.

The officer was very sophisticated.
she was fast.
at the end, she said, my PR card will be mailed to me within 6-8 weeks.

Hey All,

Landed yesterday at the North Portal Border with my family at around 7:30 PM Central Time.

The US side was fairly quick as we just walked across. We had to wait for an hour at the Canadian side as there was only one officer and was really busy. He was very helpful though and processed our application in about 15 mins once he got to us. Did not ask us any documentation in addition to the COPRs and passports.

The journey is over I guess, however i will be in touch through this blog.

Good luck everyone...

Hi everyone,

I just got our Confirmation of Permanent Residence and our stamped passports today.

However, my wife and I will be going out of Canada this December for vacation. We're currently under Work Permit status that will expire September of next year.

So my question is: Would it be advisable to just cross the border now or just do it in December when we travel outside of Canada for vacation?

Thanks in advance!

Unless you have a pressing need to finalise your situation immediately (eg: you're on a closed work permit and need to change your job or something) then it might be easier to wait. If you land now there's a strong chance you won't have your PR cards before your vacation, which will make traveling outside of Canada more difficult.

That's what I thought, too. Thanks, Quink! For the rest of the guys who are still waiting for their own PR confirmations, just hang on and it'll come in God's perfect time. Will be back here to tell my own landing story, too! Good luck, guys! :)

I am in the same situation, dot have COPR and passports back yet, sent them last Friday 23 OCT .I am traveling from the 19 dec to the 3rd January..

When did you send your passports to Ottawa?

I am not in a hurry to a PR, as I still have work permit until 2016 but I would still like to land before.
