Hi, I came to Canda as an International student in September 2010. I took a 1 yr. Post Graduate course and I graduated in Sep. 2011. I got a full time permanent job as a web developer in October. I have my PG work permit till next Jan. So I am considering all my options. I heard LMO is very hard to get for IT. So I guess I can apply for CEC by October. But that would mean that I wont recieve my PR before my work permit expires. Which would be the option for me, CEC or PNP?

Hi,

You are NOT eligible to APPLY under CEC. you need to complete min 2 years of post secondary education. (http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/cec/graduates.asp)

In which province you are currently working in?

Also is Web developer a skilled job falling under NOC A or B?

Depending upon the province, you can apply for PNP just after 3-6 months of full time work instead of waiting 1 full year and then apply under CEC.
Under PNP international student category , once you apply as soon as your PNP nomination is approved (4-8 months usually and some PNPs are employer driven depending upon the province, again which province you are in?) you will get a 2 years extended work permit and this will give you more than enough time to apply for PR, without worrying for the time limit of existing PGWP. PNP is definitely easier, depending upon the province. And since you have 1 year PGWP... PNP is your only option or opting for an LMO. So After this month of March, once you complete 6 months in this current full time job, you can apply under international student PNP, which may or may not be employer driven depending upon the province.

hi,
would you like to explain your study background in India and in Canada. What was your course and college(province) name and in which province you got job?
you can apply only for PNP according to the requirements specified by each province.
some pnp require job relevant to study and some require experience.
if you are in Ontario you may apply with permanent job offer without experience

Have completed a minimum of a two-year diploma or degree program, while studying on a full-time basis. One-year post-graduate degree programs and certificate programs, which require a previous degree or diploma (which may have been obtained abroad), are also eligible.

thanks.

@ deep22

ACCORDING TO: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/cec/graduates.asp

For CEC--- it's mentioned:

If you want to apply based on your Canadian credentials, you must complete either:
a full-time Canadian post-secondary educational program of at least two years or
a one-year Master's program (certificates and diplomas cannot be counted) and an additional year of education, obtained in Canada, before admission into the one-year program (for a total of two years).

Applicants must complete a program of study and earn:
a diploma, degree, trade or apprenticeship credential from a public post-secondary educational institution such as a college or a university that is provincially recognized, or
a degree from a private post-secondary educational institution, that is provincially recognized, or
a diploma, trade or apprenticeship credential from a private CEGEP.

If you do not meet the minimum education requirements when applying as a graduate, your application for permanent residence under the Canadian Experience Class will be refused.

One-year post-graduate degree programs and certificate programs, which require a previous degree or diploma (which may have been obtained abroad), which you are talkign about applies ONLY to PNP.

And hence the above member -- indrajith, is NOT eligible to apply under CEC, as he has completed only 1 year of post secondary education in Canada.

I only talked about PNP not CEC.
According to Ontario PNP can one apply with full time permanent job offer and without any experience after one year graduate certificate or not?

YES, NOC 2174 is skill category A level job... Again... You still didn't mention...in which province you are working/completed your 1 year PG course? Depending upon the province you can apply for PNP as soon as you are eligible...

Hi,

Go thorough the ON PNP website ind etail.
http://www.ontarioimmigration.ca/en/pnp/OI_PNPSTUDENTS.html

By the end of this month, since you will have completes 6 months of a full time permanent skilled job in Ontario, you can apply under PNP category of Ontario International student with job offer.
The PNP in Ontario is completely employer driven and you need to talk and work with your employer to move forward. This PNP category is first come first serve basis and you shouldn't waste any time, the moment you become eligible. Start talking with your employer about this, and if required seek a professional help with your PNP application.

Bets of luck.

Thanks buddy. BTW, I thought PNP didnt need any work experience.
My company has around 40 employees and I'm sure that it has way over 1M turnover each year, so that shouldnt be a problem. Do u have any idea how many PNPs they give away each year in Ontario or atleast the chances of me getting nominated if my employer agrees and he gets cleared?

Hi,
There is no mention of the number of nominations granted under Ontario PNP International student with job offer category, except for "first come first serve basis". So, don't worry, as long as you and your employer work it out together and follow all the rules and procedures, there should be no problem in receiving the nomination.

Best of luck

Your employer must apply first for approval under Ontario Opportunity International student with job offer stream before you can submit your application for immigration.
