update:

i just got my request for Medical letter, and imigration file number.
(good news. and cheers all around)
and looking it up in the online system, it tells me that they started processing my application may 1'st.

is that the date from which i should expect the official processing times to start from.
or from when they initially received my application ?
or is the medical request an indication that may be further in the process?

Hi Harry,

I feel ur pain as I am on the same boat...exactly same situation except that my PR application was filed a little bit earlier than you (file # last Nov, transferred to Seatlle last Dec, med last Dec).

Refer to your question, the processing times should be the time they indicated as receiving your application. Every office has their ways of sending Initial accessment (interview or not), medical check, criminal record check request.

Here are my sequence:

Last Nov/Dec: File # + medical request, File transferred to Seattle
Jan/Feb: Initial accessment - no interview required
Mar: Requested a PCC from my Home Country

To check processing time, theres a very good site:
http://www.trackitt.com/canada-immigration-trackers/provincial-nominees

I was lucky enough that my old employer agreed to maintain employer-employee relationship provided that Im taking extended no pay leave (But they are going to shut down for real this May). I was hoping to get PR status soon but got hit by some really bad news that the PCC process was screwed up due to some careless mistake and the whole process would be pushed back at least few more months.:(

I am now thinking of finding a new job but of course the concerns are that changing of status would screw up my PR app

I do have some questions for everyone too:

1. Would applying for a new permit screw up my PR process? Would BC withdraw my nomination? Or would the seattle office cancel my process?
2. As my company might shut down this May, they would inform the government about the shut down of course (cancel the company registry or something). They would NOT inform the BC office of my nomination, am i still safe if I just sit and wait for PR?
3. Would Canadian Consulate Seattle office also check my current job status?

yea. its not a nice situation right now.
I haven't been paid since January. and with the fixed expenses and stuff.
it is starting to get painful.

and it looks like i have another 3-4 months to go...

I have even been offered another job with a company that have a positive LMO
i could be working.. Sigh*

but i dare not even ask the PNP guys. cant risk having my PR thing messed with.

so on another note. and assuming that everything goes as i hope.
the next step is them asking for my passport. how long does that take?

i may have some internationally work lined up and well. not having a passport wont
make that easier ;)

So a week ago i FINALLY
got the long awaited letter from immigration
staring that the processing of my application is complete.
and they request my passport..

YAAH!!

the quirck..
they also request a
"Updated letter of reference from the employer that nominated you.
confirming current and ongoing employment"

i will do what i can to get this from my company.
but if i cant.

it states.

"please note. if you are no longer employed by the employer that nominated you,
you must notify this office prior to submitting your passport..

What happens if i cant get my "employer" to sign that letter
and have to notify them of my layoff ?.
will that be such a bad thing?
it must happen to others once in a while for them to include that option in the letter??

i can most likely include a standing job offer from another company??

So.. Good news with a quirk

Job Offer........
Pre-Assessed..
Contact the PNP (not from your home phone) and ask this as a general question. Say you are asking "for a friend". Then you will know what will happen in your scenario if you can't get your employer to give you a letter or if you need another offer or what and can deal with it accordingly.

update: sure!.

i was going to update this thread in a couple of days when im DONE.
but why not..

anyway i finally did manage to get my "boss" to sign the letter for immigration..
took some persuading. but hey ;) (no threats or Christmas party blackmail required.)

sent that out with my passport. and i recieved it back with a positive reply.

so now im trying to sort out what to do..

the "un expected news" is that the letter gives me two options
1# do the port of entry border crossing
2# do it IN CANADA, at a local immigration office..

so im trying to sort out if it is easier for me to drive to the us border,
or to the "local" office..
its not really a question as the "local" office has about 2 months waiting list for this.
so a long drive it is..

or i may just fly back home and have some Guinness with the boys ;)

so it looks like it is working out so far...
passport with fancy sticker in hand.. just one more step...
after this much waiting i cant wait to be done with it.. and take that new job..
Sigh*

So i finally made it down to the 49'th and did the border crossing.
and a couple of routine questions and some signing later
i was re-entered as a permanent resident!..

Sigh.. its been some kind of long wait!....

good luck to the rest of you guys.. and thanks for "listening"..
