Did you receive the Nomination of Interest or the OINP nomination? They are different things.

If former, you will still need to go through the application process, pay CAD1500 and wait for a few months. The benefit is to have 600 extra CSR points to add to you 469, which is totally unnecessary. In your case, with 469 on your profile, it really doesn't matter that much whether to have an OINP. You will almost surely get the ITA in the next round. The safest way is, however, wait until you have the ITA with your 469 to decline the OINP NOI.

If you somehow already have the nomination, meaning all OINP application is done and you have the option to accept the nomination on your EE profile, you can simply just accept it. No harm to have 600 extra points anyway. I suppose there are some rules about having to live in Ontario if you choose to use OINP nomination for EE immigration. That's the implication.

Ontario would like to consider you under their Provincial Nominee Program (PNP)

Dear Candidate,

The Government of Ontario is interested in considering you for nomination under its Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) through Express Entry.
If you want Ontario to consider you for nomination under its PNP you must contact Ontario directly after receiving this letter. Note that this letter of interest is not a guarantee that you will be nominated by Ontario. You will first have to satisfy Ontario that you meet the requirements of their program.
You can find general information about each province or territory's PNP program on the website. You will also find a link to Ontario's PNP requirements and contact information.

General information:
If a province or territory nominates you through Express Entry and you accept the PNP nomination you will be allocated an additional 600 points in the Express Entry Comprehensive Ranking System. This means you will likely receive an invitation to apply for permanent residence under the Provincial Nominee Program.
If you accept a nomination, you are indicating to both Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) and that provincial or territorial jurisdiction that you intend to live in that province or territory and that you will comply with any other provincial or territorial program requirements.
Once you accept a nomination, your profile will no longer be visible to other provinces and territories, so you will not be considered for nomination by other jurisdictions. You will also not be considered for federal economic programs in Express Entry.
If a province or territory nominates you and you decline the PNP nomination, you will not be invited to apply under Ontario's nominee program.
It is possible to be nominated by more than one province or territory, but you may only accept one nomination.
If you decline the nomination, you will stay in the Express Entry pool of candidates. You will still be eligible to receive invitations to apply under the federal immigration programs (Federal Skilled Worker Program, Federal Skilled Trades Program and/or Canadian Experience Class). As well, other provinces and territories (if applicable) will be able to see your profile for future consideration.

It's a Nomination of Interest - meaning the OINP went through your EE profile and found it, based on face value, meeting their nomination criteria. They gave you this letter of notification so that you can proceed with application for OINP nomination (via Ontario's One-Key portal) if you choose to. Once that's done (presumably in a few months with lots of documentation transmission and CAD1500 payment), you will get the official nomination and 600 extra points.

However, again, because you already have 469 and will almost surely get an ITA by EE itself, going through this OINP nomination seems to be totally redundant.

I've got the same thing and have the same questions.
May I ask if you happen to know whether applying through the OINP nomination can have any extra benefits in the long run? Or maybe some exemptions for pre-checks after landing?

I actually don't know :) I highly suspect that though. Maybe the guys from the Provincial Nomination section would know better.

Totally same situation and thanks to everyone here for all the information. This clears up a lot of questions!

May I ask how one declines the NOI? Should I reach out to Ontario or ignore it altogether?

Hello everyone.
Seniors please advise.I had received Ontario Nomination of interest on 12th May 2017 and then direct ITA on 19th May.
I have already applied eAPR and received AOR.
My question is what should I do with the ONIP, I had started filling the online details but left it half way when i received ITA.
There is nothing like ACCEPT or REJECT I can see.
How do I decline ONIP
