Hi,
I have a provincial nomination from BC, and I'm at the waiting stage of the PR application after sending in my medical.
There's a chance the company I work for could lay off my department.
Would being fired affect my current PR application at all?

Thanks for your time.

[Edit]: Probably worth mentioning that I'm living/working in BC currently.

Hello there, sorry to hear that...
I have a similar issue, but in my case I still working in the company. In my case I contacted my BCPNP Officer and 'asked them' what happen if my company is moving and I can not work because it was far away from my home.
They answered me that I can change the employer but basically the new employer need to send all the documents to be approve for BCPNP...
'Once we have approved your employer we would provide you with a new worm permit support letter and a new Certificate of Nomination for you to send to CIC. This is to ensure you could begin work as soon as possible and not interrupt the CIC review of your application.'
I know is very difficult to find some company that want to help, also because have to be your same or similar type of job...

So, Maybe you can contact them and 'ask' about your case,

I think everything depend of them and how far is your application to be finalized....
I hope everything will be ok,.. Good Luck..

Unfortunately I was fired today, so I'm trying to find out what I can do from here. I have a meeting with an immigration lawyer on Monday.
I applied for pr with my pnp certificate back in April. Am I still expected to keep the bcpnp people apprised of my situation? I was under the impression that once you have the nomination, you're dealing with the federal immigration people from then on. Is this correct?

You must notify the BCPNP if there is any change to your employment prior to the finalization of your application for permanent residence.

This could include promotions, demotions, voluntary resignations, layoffs, terminations, or changes from full-time to part-time hours.
