Happy New Year all! It'll be a full year at the beginning of next month since I sent my application in. I would have thought to be well on my way in settling in Canada by now. I find it frustrating that we don't know what's going on. Is there no real way to know what's going on with our file? Even after this long? I'm wondering if there's a recourse I haven't used or thought about so far. Any thoughts?

Try applying for GCMS notes, I tried it but wasn't very useful, still you will have an idea whats going on

i dont know whats going on, it is exactly a year and the processing time should be 11 months :S .. and when i called the call center, they directed me to the visa office directly and when i emailed them they said your application in process and no further action needed, di you think i will get it before the summer ?

Hey there. I don't think GCMS notes are useful when it comes to knowing the status of your application. thanks anyways. I just cannot understand how we are to just wait until we hear from the visa office if timelines are not respected. There must be a way to ask for info...I just don't know what that way is.

Well, I gave an idea in one of my previous post, like very other office in a developed world, immigration office should be held to its timeline and commitments, lets all get together and go to media, atleast 10 people, explaining that we r in limbo and need a definite timeline on our application status,

Let me know if you /shadi /emanager/Pari/ etc are in.

Lets write an email to Newspapers and TV channels like CTV etc explaining them whats going on with us

Not the way to go pal. Def not in. Was just wondering if there's a way to get more info that i don't know about. You only put in your app in may right? you need to learn patience or you'll go mad.

Hi Ayinka. I'm already in the one year mark and also don't know what else to do. Gcms notes are not always reliable, since I've seen people whose files seemed untouched yet got ppr anyways. The timeline thing is ridicoulous since obviously is not respected. I would understand if there was a delay for all applications bu what really pisses me off is to see people who applied in July 2012 already getting their ppr??? What the hell? Meanwhile if you ask cpp all they say is no action is required from us! Outrageous.

I put my app on 28/ feb 2012. I got a MR on 25-4 saying I will be getting PPR in 120 days, I dont think I will go mad, but I am super bored

Yeah right, if the 120 days notice was true then I would have gotten my ppr in August. Unfortunately that's not how it works. When you're over one year of your application, trust me you won't feel bored, but angry, frustrated and disappointed with this stupid immigaton process. Good luck to you all.

Amen. Especially if the rest of your life depends on the PR -- like not being able to leave your present job (and thus denying thyself of better opportunities in life) because your PR is tied to it.

That's exactly my situation. I'm waiting desperately for my pr so I can change my job and also sponsor my partner. Each day that goes by is one more lost day. His work permit is running out, so we are so anxious to finnally be free to start our lives being able to grow professionally. I did everything in my power to make my process as fast as possible, even sent Canadian police clearance without them asking just in case. Seems like is all for nothing if you're not one of the lucky ones.

Each one of us needs the PR desperately as it is preventing many of us from growing professionally and making other important decisions. From someone working in the Immigration office, I have got the information that govt is planning to make major changes in the immigration eligibilities for new candidates in Feb; therefore staff is engaged in working on those changes. This might the reason for delay in our applications, in my particular case I am already close 11 months since I submitted my application.

Let’s hold on together as it’s the only thing we can do at this point of time.

120 days is kinda joke......I don't mind waiting for another year but they have to give us specific time frame within which we will get PPR in the mean time I can focus completely on something else.....We cannot make decisions in our life because lot of things depend on immigration......I do understand some files can take more time but sorry to say I have seen very few files which took 120 days.....I do admit I m really frustrated :(:(:(

The story of a blind girl

There was a blind girl who hated herself just because she was blind. She hated everyone, except her loving boyfriend. He was always there for her. She said that if she could only see the world, she would marry her boyfriend.

One day, someone donated a pair of eyes to her and then she could see everything, including her boyfriend. Her boyfriend asked her, “now that you can see the world, will you marry me?”

The girl was shocked when she saw that her boyfriend was blind too, and refused to marry him. Her boyfriend walked away in tears, and later wrote a letter to her saying:

“Just take care of my eyes dear.”

This is how human brain changes when the status changed. Only few remember what life was before, and who's always been there even in the most painful situations.

Life Is A Gift

Today before you think of saying an unkind word–
think of someone who can't speak.

Before you complain about the taste of your food–
think of someone who has nothing to eat.

Before you complain about your husband or wife–
think of someone who is crying out to God for a companion.

Today before you complain about life–
think of someone who went too early to heaven.

Before you complain about your children–
think of someone who desires children but they're barren.

Before you argue about your dirty house, someone didn't clean or sweep–
think of the people who are living in the streets.

Before whining about the distance you drive–
think of someone who walks the same distance with their feet.

And when you are tired and complain about your job–
think of the unemployed, the disabled and those who wished they had your job.

But before you think of pointing the finger or condemning another–
remember that not one of us are without sin and we all answer to one maker.

And when depressing thoughts seem to get you down–
put a smile on your face and thank God you're alive and still around.

Life is a gift – Live it, Enjoy it, Celebrate it, and Fulfill it.
