Hello everyone,

I am in dilemma first let me explain my situation. I am Indian Citizen but now in United States on Student Visa. My Visa expires in Dec, 2012.
I have applied under AINP ( Family Stream). I have submitted my Fed application in May, 2012 without FBI Clearance. I had received FBI clearance in June, 2012. I had DUI ( Driving under Influence) but it was dismissed that why Background Check got delayed. I haven't sent FBI clearance yet, I had called CIC twice for sending FBI clearance. They said it's upto u but the will ask when they will open my file. Right now my application is in CPP- Ottawa since June or July, 2012 and my VO will be in United States (Detroit).
Now question is that when I will go to India after Visa expires should I tell them that I am going to India, by doing this New Delhi( India) will be my VO.
I would have been in processing for 7 months here but new VO, New Delhi will start everything from scratch. It might take another 7-8 months or more.
I m screwed:(. What should I do?

Thanks

If you look at the end, there is a heading called APPLICATION. For me, underneath it states:

APPLICATION: 1
Field name: Secondary Office
Action: Added
Old Value:
New Value: Detroit
Updated Date: 25/09/2012
Updated By: (visa officer's code)
Office: CPP Ottawa

Hi mate,
How did you know that your background checks got delayed? I don't think background checks has anything to do with Police Reports, I may be wrong though.
If you are moving an inch, you have to let them know especially that you are going back to India. If you still have a VALID VISA to enter America, you may not need to because you will still be able to travel to US when you want.
Now look at it this way; if your PPR is ready and you are asked to come for your visa, is that the time you will be looking TO PACKAGE a visiting visa application to the American Embassy?
I suggest you let them know. You will be surprise it might not even take a month before your file is transferred to NDVO. Also, it is an illusion to think they are going to start the processing of your application from the scratch if it is transferred to NDVO.
Hope this helps.

Background Check and PCC is the same thing....I think we can send Passport by mail also......I know File can be transferred in month but NDVO will take another 8-9 months for PPR.

I DEMAND more PPRs from Ottawa >:( !

You have 2 options:-
1. If you can get a US visitor visa then you can always fly to detroit and get your PR visa stamp in person.
2. If not then have your visa office changed to NDVO.

Can you really change your visa office? I was under the impression that one couldn't change the VO. If yes, what's the procedure?

I think once you request for a change in your address to your home country, the file gets transferred from CPP to the home country VO. This is only if you move out of North America.

It's not possible to get VISA by mail?

For getting the PR visa you have go in person to Detroit with your passport. You cannot mail your passport out side India.
