We have a written confirmation from office saying that we will be getting updates in 120 days.
Its impossible to reach CIC call center. Impossible to get a certain response of E-mails from them
Like every other office in a developed world...Immigration office should be responsible for its actions

jonmonc said:Hi,
I am told any time before 'Application received' date doesnt really matter much to the CiC
I got my medical request in feb 2012... and my application was in queue for approx 130 days before it went into 'in process' status. With more and more traffic at Ottawa, this time has been steadily increasing... I would say a wait time of 4 to 5 months to get into 'in process' after MR is received is pretty common in this forum.
After the status turns to 'in process' i dont know how long it takes to receiving the PPR. I am 50 days past 'in process' already and I havent heard a thing. Been hearing in other forums, a very random cases of Passport requests in a month or so. Having said that we really dont have much data to estimate on... I am guesstimating anywhere between 2-4 months.
Hope this information helps.

While I understand the point you are making, I feel there is no need to be so rude with your reply by calling people "foolish". Everyone gets frustrated because of the wait and it's only natural human tendency to sometimes get frustrated.pokar said:Stop being so foolish. I come to this site everyday to compare dif people's timeline, but I've been getting so sick of most people complaining on and on and on. Even look at last year's timeline. Most of their AOR's didn't even come through until 5-6 months after. The CIC are making their effort to change things and they did by shortening the processing time so much, and you can see that since it only takes 1-3 months for the AOR/MR. I'm also frustrated of waiting, but wow. It really makes me disgusting how most of you wait for like a month and start freaking out. Oh, I haven't heard from them for a month now, what should I do?! Seriously people, you guys are IMMIGRATING. You think these things are really that simple? The CIC people are going over a summary of pretty much your whole life. You think this is a simple thing to do? Everyone's tired and frustrated. There are people who've been waiting for over four years who will get their applications cancelled. Those people got a right to complain. But not you guys. In USA it takes over a decade to just get a PR. So stop whining and thank Canada for letting you guys in so easily. I mean, I even saw a member who kept whining on and on until she got her PR, and right after landing she would complain about how she doesn't like it in Canada. Learn to thank and to be optimistic. One last thing, the CIC never promised you that they would get everything done in a certain amount of time. They provided you with an approximate time frame, meaning that it could get shorter or longer than that time. And did you guys know that calling to just check where your files are isn't gonna help at all? If you've been waiting for like over a year and nothing came, there could be something wrong. Plus what good does calling/contacting do? It's not gonna make your file to be checked up right away. It just delays everybody else's processes.
jonmonc said:I got some information about my application from Ottawa. My 'background check' is still pending and rest all is done. The lady at Ottawa office says it takes 15 to 17 months for processing in total. I understand background checks happen in your home country as well. And apparently it takes a while in India. DOes anyone know what exactly they mean by Background check? Is it like a police verification (as in a officer comes to your previous residence to check etc)... If anybody has any inputs please let me know. I have been in multiple locations with in India and the USA in the past 10 years.
Another thought... It would be interesting to note the nationality of those who have heard back from Ottawa with a Passport request. Perhaps that is also a factor.... given that background check (which i assume is the bottleneck in the process) varies by citizenship and travel logs. Just an idea. Hope it helps.
