my answer still the same...
we are talking about form IMM 5406, Section A, right?
your wife must fill out the second line as "Spouse" but she still needs to fill out the first line (do not leave it blank) and specify you as the applicant, therefore you have two forms, the first two line have the same info...

this is how i filled out the form for my husband...

SSET,

All respectful. Just want to get it straight. I changed my mind because I revisited the guide to fill out forms. If I have a 25 years old son, he needs to fill out this form also. If that case, how this son fill out this form? If he, in your way, fills out my name as APPLICANT, where he puts his name? He is not my spouse at all. So, he should identify him as APPLICANT and fill out his wife as spouse if applicable. With the same token, my wife needs to identify as APPLICANT, and put my name as spouse. Because this is individual form, I was identified as spouse in her form makes sense. Please tell us what you think and we need your advice.

it's up to you guys... i just shared my experience and that's how i understand it... i don't say that is right or the best way to fill out the form...

Congratulations Karl, the long wait finally paid off for you....

I have two questions for you....

1. Did you pay the processing fees through Credit card? If so how long before did they take the money from your account?

2. You say its because you were here in Canada that they processed your doc's quicker....would you be able to tell me how long you've been here?

thanks a million!!

Mervyn Michael...

Hi Mike,

I got a draft for the fees, according to the email from immigration they cashed it on the 4th of January (they received my application on the 12th of December). Compared to overseas applicants, when they courier their documents, it may take a week or more for their package to arrive compared to a couple of days for anyone resident in Canada. That would need to be factored when considering receipt of the docs from Canadian Immigration right? I've been here since July.

Cheers,

OM

hello again OldMiltonian,

I hope you don't mind, i would like to ask a favor...can you please share to us the content of the email? You can just cross out or omit the important/personal details...We are all curious on how it looks like and what to expect ;)
Also, did you receive the email directly to your inbox or from your junk email/spam folder? What is their email address? Please let us know so we can add it in our contacts so it won't go to our spam folder/junk emails ;) ;D ;) ;D

In anticipation that you will grant my request, thanks a lot for sharing, we sincerely appreciate your kindness and cooperation. God bless and goodluck!
