My sister works for a company back home who have another office in Vancouver. They have offered her a job in Canada and that job is remote- she doesn't have to be in Vancouver to do the job. I live in Ontario and was hoping that she could stay in Ontario with me.

The immigration consultant in her office shared the plan regarding her work permit. They will be filing her application under BC PNP > Work Permit and PR Application category. If she gets selected to apply in PNP, they will apply within 30 days. If approved she can apply for PR. She will get a work permit support letter and will apply for work permit (employer specific) until PR is approved.

Is this plan ok?

Does that mean that she would have to stay in BC throughout the PR Application and even after PR is granted until she becomes citizen? Her job is remote but she works for Canadian and American group sl technically she doesn't have to be in BC.

Thanks for suggestion/advice.

I assum the employer is willing to meet the requirements here:

https://www.welcomebc.ca/Immigrate-to-B-C/B-C-Provincial-Nominee-Program/Employer-Requirements

Your sister should be planning to settle in BC. If it appears she plans to settle outside of the province, this can lead to refusal.

Yes, if she gets a work permit, she would want to remain in BC until PR is approved and also provide a BC address for the mailing of her PR card. Once she has her PR card, then she would be able to move. She does not have to remain in BC until citizenship.

Thank you Scylla. How does Immigration track during the PR Application that the applicant has lived in the province of nomination during the application process? Do they have a way of tracking or do they ask you to provide some proof?

The onus is generally on the applicant to provide proof. IRCC can request additional proof at any point while processing the application. Given she has a sibling living in Ontario, it's possible they may look more closely at her application to ensure she does in fact plan to reside in BC despite having family ties to Ontario.
