Dear All,

Hope you are doing well.. As you all know the federal skilled worker program is getting more and more difficult i am planning to go visa the study, that is study in a canadian university, gain the required work expreience upon graduation and then apply for the canadian experience class. Can you guyz suggest me any good and affordable university which has good job prospects upon grduation. Btw i have done my MBA and am working as a commercial banking for the past 3 years. First i thought to apply for another MBA from canada but i dont think they will issue me a visa becoz of the MBA i have already done. Kindly also suggest me good programs in
which i could get admission too. i am looking for good postgraduate programs which are also affordable.

Thanks !!!

hello,

there are many options and many colleges and universities. Please mention your age and if there was any gap between ur education or work experience and when was your last degree obtained?

you are right about pursuing another MBA from Canada as it will be very difficult for you to explain in your SOP why you wish to repeat MBA program. As you already have work experience, you also have an option of applying for work permit via canadian high commission website, though the process is time consuming ranging from 10 to 20 months.

Hi Sabby,

Can u tell me some good anf affordable colleges. i am 30 years old and there was no gap in my studies, i have dont my o levels , then my a levels, then a bachelors in computer science degree ( 4 year one ) and then my MBA ( 2 years). i completed my MBA in december 2010. Kindly advise me suitable colleges and universities for my profile. Ill be grateful.

Also tell me about the work permit thing you were talking about. i only know about the federal skilled worker program and that seems very difficult now. thanks.

for the gap point, i meant if u were idle for a period of more than six months after completing your education which could mean gap between your work experience.

And for the colleges, I would suggest, you go to CHC website of your respective country and there is a link on the left for Student Visa. there you will find participating SPP college and university list. then you can review the options. as far as course suggestion is concerned, I would suggest you decide on your own. For example, if I were you, being from computer science background, assuming I am into programming. but do not wish to be in hard core tech operation but rather in decision making or business generation process, I would go for diploma in business management or MBA. Now, that's my opinion. So you must first decide what you really wish to do next. Though you are 30, but it's not a problem in canada, you will find even Canadians pursuing course at the age of 35. However, you need to be careful while selecting a course and your SOP which is the heart of your application must be strong.

NOw, as far as SWP program is concerned, CIC has announced a few changes which will apply from end of 2013 and they are promising changes.

Study permit is easy and quick process, if funding is not an issue with you, go for Study permit.

cheers!

phd is taken up mostly to transition into teaching.

some ppl are able to leverage it to get into think tanks, but it's mostly teaching. that's basically what a PHD degree will get you, an almost guaranteed teaching job.

my only question here will be " are you eligible to apply for PhD program? Please check any of the college's criteria and you will get to know.
If the sole purpose of PhD is work permit or PR, then Phd is not necessary. For example, if you pursue 1 year program, you get 1 year work permit and after completing one year, you can apply for PR... 2 year program will fetch you 2 years of work permit...hence at the moment, chances are good. so consider what your real motto is...

cheers!

Yes i know that the Phd program will get me a teaching job. I am just looking to enter canada via the study permit and gain the PR thereafter. The problem is that i have done my MBA and have around 3 years of work experience too related to my MBA. Now which program will accept me, i mean which majors, as i have heard that when you apply for another Masters when you already have a masters from your home country, the student visa is often rejected . So can you suggest what programs can i apply for that will prove to be a good progression from my MBA and also have high chances of visa issuance. A brief info abt my academics is as under

i am 30 years old and there was no gap in my studies, i have dont my o levels , then my a levels, then a bachelors in computer science degree ( 4 year one ) and then my MBA ( 2 years). i completed my MBA in december 2010.

What was your major/specialization in MBA? You were partially ryt about visa file getting rejected for candidates applying for the same course again. However, if your reasons are convincing enough via your SOP, it's not necessary that your file gets rejected. Now, chances are bit on higher side for refusal that's why most of us do not dare to apply for same course again. However, if that's the course I really wana pursue and can strongly relate to my career, I would give it a try.

Now talking about the course you should pick, Plz pick a course according to your work experience and MBA Majors. You haven't specified what kind of job you have, your role. So if you were in Hardcore IT domain, say for software Testing or into development then one cay say I wish to be in managerial position/decision making position, hence want to pursue Business Management Course.

Your MBA, was it regular/part time or correspondence?

Cheers!
