[size=10pt]Hello everybody

Could you tell me how you can get a work permit from your country?? I would like to work in Canada and I need some advices about how I could be hired by Canadians companies. I've been working in USA for seven years with TN visa (work permit). This kind of Visa doesn't allow to get a Permanent Residence here in USA. So, I am very interested in living and working in Canada. I am working in Technology field as computer repair technician.

Please, I'll be very grateful for your huge help.

Thank you so much.

First you'll need to find an employer who is willing to offer you a full time job in Canada. The next step will be for that employer to obtain an approved LMIA. Once the LMIA is approved, you will be able to apply for a work permit.

So finding an employer and job is your first step.

[size=10pt]Hello there

Thank you for the reply. I know that under NAFTA Mexicans and Americans citizens are exempted without the requirement of LMIA. Therefore it is easier to immigrate to Canada, but the issue here is Why is so complicated being hired by Canadians companies under Nafta?? I've been sending a lot of resumes to many companies but I have not any reply.

Best Regards

It's complicated because Canada gives preference to its own workforce.

[size=10pt]Thank you all for your reply.

Then, What kind of jobs companies may hire foreign workers?

Why you want to move from such a beautiful country?? I would trade my PR card/citizenship for US green card :p

The easiest way for you to get a job here is to talk to your future employer. Come over as a tourist to Alberta and then just go from door to door and ask for positions, apply and explain your situation. From my experience there are towns (like Fort St. John's, Fort McMurray, Fort Nelson etc.) here in Alberta and BC that need people all the time and they never Ad. Probably they will hire you on the spot. All my friends get hired like that with starting wage of 22$/h to do some labor work - entry level.

Some jobs are under NAFTA but make sure you find out you are eligible. Not all jobs for Mexicans are LMIA exempt (and even if the job is eligible you might be not).

Thanks for that good idea. I have a question for you. Is it legal go there as tourist to find jobs??? Can I do that?

Yes, you're right. In fact, I am working here in USA under NAFTA. So, that means my job is eligible and I think is the same thing in Canada.

Find out if you are eligible to apply for a work permit without support from the employer, if you can, i might be able to help you.

I am a service manager of the computer department for a big company with more than 200 stores in canada.

I am currently seeking a good computer technician.

Thank you for your advice. I've been finding out about my duties and profession and it apply under NAFTA in Canada as well.
