Is your spouse an asylum claimant in Canada or elsewhere? I assume in Canada.

You can certainly try applying for a study visa. Unfortunately the chances are extremely high it will be refused due to your spouse's status in Canada.

Unfortunately there's really no best alternative. Any sort of temporary visa is likely to be refused. This includes both study permits and visitor visas. Having said that, you can certainly try applying and see what happens.

The reality is most family will have to wait until the other partner has received protected person and has applied for PR where the rest of the family has been included to be reunited. Most families or asylum claimants remain separated for 3-5 years but often much longer. When did your spouse apply for asylum and have they been considered as a less complex case? Do they have a hearing date yet?
