Hi Seniors,

I need a few clarifications,
1) For each certificate not in English Do I need to attach the followings

a) A notarized photocopy of the original certificate (i.e which is in my native language)
b) Notarized photo copy of the translated doucument.
Am I correct ?

2) Do I also have ask the translator for what is called an affidavit ? Is this just a single document or do I need to provide one for each doc being traslated. Please clarify .

thanks

rink, are u sure ?

The EG7 reads as,

Note:
An affidavit is a document on which the translator has sworn, in the presence of a commissioner authorized to administer oaths in the country in which the translator is living, that the contents of their translation are a true translation and representation of the contents of the original document.

So isn't it just a single document that we need to get from the translator ?

Seniors, pls share your thoughts.
thanks

I really think some expert should post this repy in a clear and concise manner, I too am confused of what to do first and exactly what is needed for translation etc. Lets say we have a birth certificate O.K. ? what is step 1,2,3, etc and in the end how is it presented , stapled to the translation ????? Please give us a step by step example. Thanks in advance...

Some documents I provided were written only in Thai. In those cases, I had a certified translation done. The translation was stamped by the company that performed the translation. Then I attached that to a copy of the original document written in Thai.

In some cases, I had documents - like bank statements - that were partly in English and partly in Thai. Instead of paying for the whole thing to be "translated," I made a copy of the bank statement for the translator to add-in the English where appropriate and then stamp the amended document.

Official documents like bank statements were often stamped by my bank. And official government documents may be stamped or signed by a government office. But other than my birth certificate, I don't recall anything needing an affidavit. I don't even think the birth certificate required it.
