from what i have heard it does not have to be continuous.

yes i dont know why people want to bring others down. it doesnt have to be continuous at all.
look at the changing work landscape of this country. not many people are full time anymore. Majority working part time or contact to contract.

Look at the requirement from the website. For something that is so important don't stop at just heard.

Thanks alot for your great and informative response. I did my 3 years advanced diploma from canada so i don't think that i have to get my ECA done. Also, for the job letter. my employment agency is going to provide me with the job letter not the actual company i work for. Is there any issue with that?

Dude, if you had Canadian Degree and Canadian Experience, you should mention it in the beginning. That will change a lot of things, and clear a lot of assumptions.

If your experience is Canadian Experience, it doesn't need to be continuous. Here is the proof to back me up in case someone doubt about it:

Continuous doesn’t mean non-stop....
It just means someone who has been employed as a regular employee...not as a consultant who works couple of days a week or so...
if someone has worked as a teacher somewhere for six months and then after a gap of a month or so joined another school in same capacity, at the end of sixth month, he can apply as a ‘teacher’ having an year of experience...
If the same person has been teaching two days a week in a school and two days in another school for 3 years also, it doesn’t become continuous...however if the same person works whole week 4 hours a day (part time ) and whole week 4 hours a day at another school (part time ) for an year,it gets counted as one year continuous ...
Your intention is good but you haven’t fully understood the context...
