pls help, good or bad if CIC sent correspondence ?

Hello everybody,

I applied inland for my PR application on 27th of July 2015. Today for the first time I could see that my application was received by CIC, I just nearly had a heart attack ???, I checked with my UCI number for the status of the application and the following I could read:


We received your application for permanent residence on July 28, 2015.
We sent you correspondence on October 20, 2015. If you have not yet provided the information or the requested documents, please do so as soon as possible. Please wait until you receive the correspondence before sending us additional information, as the correspondence will outline all information that is required.

the long awaited first sign from CIC that they received my application, but I did not received any correspondence yet, no email neither anything by Canada post. What can that mean ? is there anything missing in our application ? I also applied for my inland OWP.

oh god, am I working myself too much up right now, I feel like having a panic attack ???

just an update:

so I called cic and a very friendly agent looked into my case. He said no need to be worried, he can see in their system that cic should have sent me on the 20th October `some correspondence` but unfortunately he can not say what it is, which is `odd` (in his words), he said he is pretty sure its my AOR but somehow it never reached me, so if by the 17th of November I did not received anything I should call again. So it might be some `system error` .... I dont want to get exited too early but he also said, that he sees that I submitted my OWP and it should be `out by the end of the month` (in his words). I`m so glad I called, that gave me hope that the desperately awaited owp will be really issued

I wouldn't get my hopes up if I were you. It's common that the agents in customer care doesn't always give the right answers. In your ecas it states specifically that it is in regards to missing documents and/or information right? This means that is most likely the case - something is missing that you will need to update them with. Not the end of the world, just some additional processing time.

I dont know if that means that it is in regards to missing documents/informations, the agent said he is pretty sure its the AOR, but who knows ! yes I try not to get my hopes up too much I will see if the next days some `correspondence` arrives or not, the agent confirmed the right email address. Well, its good to know, that even thou something might be missing, its not the end of the world, just a little more processing time.

I`m just wondering now, do call center agents from cic make notices in the applicants file after the applicant phones the call center ? I`m kind of worried now, for in case there IS something missing in my application and I never received that email about missing documents (which the call center agent confirmed, that for some reason the email probably was not sent by cic) I could miss a deadline for not submitting that document right ? But like I mentioned, the call center agent told me to wait until the 17th of November and for in case I never receive that letter in time I should call again. But what if the deadline for submitting the (maybe) missing document is only 1 month ? Will cic know that I called on the 26th of October ?

Well, this is basically just my opinion. But I think the agents do leave notes, and the officer in cic can actually see them.

After getting SA, an officer requested some documents from me. I submitted them via fax and email, both unsuccessfully (at least I thought so). I had to call the call centre to ask what can be the way out of that situation, as I only had 30 days. He left a note in my file, and yesterday I received a letter from cic that they have received and already attached additional documents to my file. I haven't heard that cic sends any confirmation upon received of additional documents, therefore, I really think that call agents are not totally useless.

I think you should send a "Case Specific Enquiry" asking for the correspondence

The timeline will most likely get messed up - if by that you mean additional processing time. It's very likely that you missed some documents. Can you think of which? However your application shouldn't be refused because of this as long as you're aware and keep contacting CIC. The only times it would be refused is if you do nothing and then several months later they contact you saying that you never got back to them with the documents they asked for and that they have decided to refuse the application.

that relieves me a bit, I`m making myself here for nothing all nervous I guess lol. So I did that, and sent a `Case Specific Enquiry` and got confirmation that cic got it, will take about 30 days until they respond, at least they have in the system my message (hopefully) and see that I care about that never received that said correspondence. SamHom: I dont know which document could be missing but maybe it really happend that I forgot something to include, I will see. Next week I will call again cic just to make sure !
