Hello everyone,

I have been offered admission to two Universities namely; University of Waterloo and Simon Frazer University. I wish to inquire, is it necessary to make arrangements / reservations / bookings for housing with the University / Off campus landlords before submitting a study permit application.

I will appreciate your suggestions.

Regards

No - you don't have to make housing arrangements before applying for a study permit. You shouldn't be making housing arrangements until your study permit has been approved. You just have to show you have enough money to cover living expenses.

If you happen to be studying Engineering, I would recommend picking Waterloo. It's an excellent university for Engineering with a very high reputation in Canada.

I appreciate your response.

I would prefer Waterloo but the fees are high CAD$45,000 per year excluding Living expense. Simon Frazer is CAD$15,000 / year. Excluding Living expenses. My decision to accept Simon Frazer is based on Fees otherwise, Waterloo is my utmost choice. I can not afford much tuition fee.

Thanks for your time.

Is this a Masters or undergrad? I don’t think SFU is $15k for the year. That is for the term so $30k for the year. I may be wrong but check the website.

Estimated tuition and mandatory fees for first 12 months: $15,014.82
Fees are subject to change without notice. See Graduate Studies website for the most up-to-date information.

The above was stated on the letter. It's a Master degree under Specialty Program (per unit) not Regular Program (per term)
