Pleasr Help with my Visitor visa extension.

Hello Everyone.

I got my three years work permit last October and My visa was expired on December. I didnt renew my visa since then. One month ago I got invitation for my cousin wedding so I applied for a Visa extension on Feb 12th. My friend got his visa after 3 weeks so I thought I will get it before the wedding day. But when I check processing time, it actually takes 49 days, which means I can only get my visa on Apr 2nd. However, the wedding is on March 22nd Are there any way that I can make the processing faster? Should I call or email CIC?

Is this for a trip to the USA ? If so, I believe you can travel with only your work permit (just to USA) and can enter in Canada with no problem, please do the research as I am not 100% sure about this. But I've had the same situation with my husband and it ended up being okay to go to USA and come back with just the work permit.

However, if it is not in the USA you are travelling, if your temporary resident visa (in your passport) is expired, extending your stay won't change anything. What you need is another Visa, in that case you must do a new application for a Temporary REsident Visa which the processing time is 12 days with a paper application. I don't think however it is enough time to get it for March 22nd.

If you TRV in your passport is not expired, than you can leave without doing anything in particular and when you come back it will automatically be renewed for another 6 months.
