While generally, yes, a request for your passport is a great sign, it does not 100% mean that you are approved and will get your visa. You don't say which office you've applied through. Some visa offices will request a passport early in the process, some later. The letter that you get with your passport request should say something along the line of a 'request for your passport is not a guarantee that a visa will be issued'. For instance my husband had a passport request, we submitted his passport and then it was returned with a request for another police clearance report. Once that was submitted, they requested his passport again and then got his visa in a few weeks. Good luck!

Yeah I mean, it says the issuance of your Visa is time sensitive.

And that they require a valid passport for yourself and any accompanying family member. So does that mean i'm approved?

Yeah I think Buffalo only requests passport when they are issuing the visa. I read from someone it takes a couple of weeks to get it back at the most. Congratulations!

Well, now that you've given more details, it sounds like good news! What does the letter say? Something like 'in order to continue processing your file, please submit your passport' OR 'we are ready to issue your visa. please submit your passport'? If they mention that you will get your visa, then yes, congratulations are in order!!

It says: The processing of your application appears complete. Please submit your passport before June 14, 2009.

The issuance of your visa is time sensitive so it is important for you to submit your passport as requested.

- Then it says that the immigrant visa which we will place in your passport shows an expiry date. You may enter Canada anytime before the expiry date shown on the visa. this date cannot be extended. If you fail to enter Canada before this date, you will be required to re-apply and submit a new application and processing fee.

- Passports for all accompanying family members must be submitted together.

- There must be at least one blank page in your passport. If there are children included in your passport, there must be blank pages for their visas as well.

: Please note: Immigrant visas cannot be place in Diplomatic, Official or Military passports.

So that's all it says for Passport requirements.......

Thanks guys, I appreciate all your comments and help, this forum has been great.

My AOR date was November 5, 2008

My passport request for visa May 12, 2009

The sponsorship stuff I don't really have the time line for.

So i'll be sending off for my Visa tomorrow.

Thanks, and i'll be updating on how long it takes to get my visa back from Buffalo.

Or I can go there in person and have it done, i'm debating on whether I'll do that.

It says if you go there in person, you'll get it back the same day.

Well if you need it fast go in person if you can! :) Otherwise just mail it in :) But will probably take a couple of weeks.

Personally, I'd take it in and just get it over and done with. I'm always nervous about mailing my passport anywhere.
