My husband is here on a visitors visa. We have been married since May, 22, 2015. We have a child together. I gave birth to her on the 2nd of Dec, 2015. Im currently waiting on my MAT leave to kick in, but i also collect ontario works to help with child care for my other child (from a previous relationship). I do have a job i will be returning to once my MAT leave is up. my question is can i sponsor him to live here or does my receiving ontario works affect that? Also my husband is able and willing to work here. he actually has a job offer but no work permit, does this help ?

Is "Ontario Works" Ontario's version of social assistance? It looks like it is, if that is the case then you have to be off that before you can sponsor him. His having a job offer has no bearing on anything.
My understanding is that you cannot apply as a sponsor if you are receiving any social assistance.kaykayy89 said:

Saying that, there are no financial requirements to sponsor, as in a set annual income that needs to be met.
As far as i am aware, EI is one of the only government payouts that is exempt from the social assistance clause.

I don't think there is a time limit, but you have to make sure you are off the "list" so to speak.kaykayy89 said:
