When you receive the request to pay the right of permanent residence fee, does that mean the visa is going to be issued?
or could it still be a long time?
(things have been in process for 8 months)
medicals expired 5 months ago, why did they not ask for a redo together with the fee request?
thank-you everyone for all of your help.
3 small children ages 2,5 and 8 have been away from their father for so very long and I can't bear to see their sadness anymore.

I am so sorry to hear about your and your childrens' sadness. This process can be so difficult on everyone involved, but the rewards of course are priceless! I'm assuming it is your husband being sponsored? Did he get a "decision made" or "passport request?" I would imagine that yes the visa is going to be issued if they are asking for the right of permanent residence fee, followed by the passport request.

I do not know anything about the medicals. Medical exams are good for 12 months. You may want to have him take another one anyway, to avoid further delays. But of this I am not 100%, someone else I'm sure can tell you more about it (I am still on the early stages, there are people on this forum who know the later stages MUCH better than I do! I am telling you the information I have learned just from reading the forums for so long.)

Congrats though! This is definitely a step in the right direction. You may still have to wait a couple months or so if there are delays because of having to pay the PR Fee.

Best of luck to you and your family.

Hey Jacklindo, I am in a similar situation, my medicals expired but no request for myself and my 2 yr old to re-do as yet. Ecas says in process. With you however, i am not sure whats happening, looks like you maybe an exception to the re-do medical rule... Since you have been asked to pay the Right for permanent residence fee.... i hope so, and good luck to you.

If it were me, I would probably re-do the medical exam anyway just to avoid delays... but it would also depend on $$.

I have been told that you will need to wait until the embassy requests that you redo the medical for you to redo them.

There is no way to sponsor your brother under the federal program. Certain provincial programs may allow it if you meet their criteria.

Just curious, is it because he's a minor still? That was my first thought, I couldn't remember if it was possible to sponsor your sibling, but since technically 16 is still a minor it seems like that would be an issue regardless.

No nyssa, it's because he is just not eligible to be sponsored this way under the Act UNLESS he is an orphan. It doesn't have anything to do with his age at all.
