Please Help with Cancelling Representative

I created my profile myself in November. I received ITA in February 5 Draw. I retained an attorney here in Waterloo ON in late January and handed over my application to their account in February 1. I also signed the use of representative form giving them full access to my application. I am not happy with the representative experience so far. IRCC website says I can cancel a representative at any time. I created my profile myself, so I still have access to my account.

1. I have tried to follow the instructions on this page https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/immigration-citizenship-representative/change-cancel.html , but I have not been able to regain control of my application. I have easily filled the web form on my computer, but then the very last question requires a signature.Do I need to print it, hand sign it and then upload the signed form?

2. After getting the signed & complete form - The cancel representative part in the link above suggests that I send in the form via web form. However when I try to do this on the page, because I currently have no ongoing application, I am not getting the option to do anything. It says "Please select the name of the application that you have applied for. You must have already submitted the application in order to send your enquiry." What should I do? I want to be the only one having access to my application. I have not applied yet, I will likely do so in the next 2 or 3 weeks.

3. On my profile home screen, I am receiving the option to link my Express entry application back to my profile. However, I do not want to do this until I am sure the representative has been cancelled and would no longer have access. This is dependent on the two questions above.

All advice is appreciated. Thank you.

Either you have applied or you haven't - your answers above are contradictory. In your introduction, you say you had the law firm apply for you, and in bullet point 2 you say you have not applied yet.

You need to print out and sign the form, scan it in, and be ready to upload it in a webform. You have to specify the application you have made through a representative to cancel the representative.

If the application has not yet been submitted, then there is no representation with IRCC. There is no representative on a profile, only on a submitted application. Talk to the law firm and tell them you no longer want their services but that you need all the application paperwork they have completed so that you can submit on your own. You'll most likely need to pay them for services to date, but only your agreement with them will detail that.

Thank you for your response. There has been no application yet. My impending EExyzxyzxyzxyzz application is currently linked to the representative's account, so at this moment I don't have access to it except I link it back to my profile[which I have not done yet]. Application has not yet been submitted. The representative has my EE number and can easily link it back to their account. I want to ensure my representative will no longer be able to do this.

They can't link an application without a representation agreement. They don't have a representation agreement until the application is submitted. If the application is submitted without an authorized representative form there is no representation.

I'm really not sure how to answer your question - they're not your representatives until the application is submitted.

Fire them as your lawyers, tell them you no longer want to be their client. Then submit the application on your own.
