Hi there, it's my first time going trough this process and it's all very intimidating. Hoping you guys can help me out. Here's the breakdown:

- I met my wife while she was studying here at York. She has a Pakistani passport, and had been in the Country for less than a year. We're just going through the PR process now, and are unsure about a few things.

Do we only have 2 options as to which office we can apply too. The guy on from immigration canada said we can either apply to Mississauga, who will in turn forward her application to Islamabad (24 month expected time), or Alberta (14 month wait time). Are these the only 2 options available? Someone told me you could apply to any office around the world, and the process could be quicker.

Any advice for this newbie?

Thanks!

Yes - those are your two options. No - you can't apply to any office around the world (unfortunately 'someone' gave you bad advice). If your wife happens to be living in a country other than Pakistan right now and has been legally admitted to that country for at least one full year - then another options would be applying through that country. If she's in Pakistan, they you've outlined the two options available.

If you haven't already, read the first post here:
