Hi ,
i am asking a question for a friend .
She is doing a Certificate (8 months duration ) from Toronto .she is gonna graduate out in september and want to apply for PR based on the PGWP that will be granted after studies (8 month's PGWP).
We couldnt found any program (CEC ,PNP etc. ) that allows students who graduate out from certificate programs to apply for Permanent Resident in Canada.
Please specify in particular as to what options she has in these circumstances.
thanks

P.S she dont wanna study any further or transfer credits to university towards a degree (due to financial burden+ has spent a lot already)
Educational background: Software developer (Software related bachelors degree + Incomplete Masters degree from back home)

***What options do we have right now??? coz we may be missing something ***

If you could be more specific with regards to her college and course of study, that'd be helpful.

She can still qualify for Ontario PNP provided:
- She attended an Ontario PNP-approved college.
- She completed a graduate certificate program of at least one academic year in length.
- This graduate certificate program required applicants to have a previous bachelor's degree/diploma.
- She has a permanent, full-time job in NOC 0/A/B.

Also, if she had an incomplete Master's degree, how did she manage to get her study permit? Did she hide her incomplete studies? Just curious, that's all.

Since, its only 8 months course.......I feel it very tough for her.As PNP needs atleast 1 yr course
1 year meaning one academic year, so basically 8 months, right? Very few 1 year programmes are exactly 12 months in length.

Here is the information that states some one year certificates are accepted. However note that you also require a job offer for a full-time, skilled position from an employer in Ontario. The certificate isn't enough to qualify:

If it's not post-graduate, then she won't qualify for Ontario PNP.

The information your friend is looking for can be found on the links listed here (for all provinces other than Quebec):

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/provincial/apply-who.asp

and here (for Quebec):

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/quebec/index.asp

If she doesn't feel comfortable doing the research herself, then I would recommend that she hire an immigration consultant.

Good luck.

Hi Scylla,

Hope you could help

I applied under FSW in March 2011 ,my spouce and I were on a Bridging VISA here is Australia.

In May 2011 my spouce's Permanent Risidency (for Australia) was refused becasue the ex employer gave wrong answers on the phone but there was no misrepresentation.

The reason given by the VO was " Not statisfied by your claim of having worked for XYZ" and we were given a chance to appeal but we didnt because we had already applied for Canada FSW.

After this I applied for Temporary Residency in Australia and it was approved. We are still in Australia.

" Medical Results have been received" line was added to my ECAS some 7 weeks ago.

We are worried because it has been more that 3 months since we took the medicals and there is still no sign of PPR.

I have holidayed in 8 countries in my life though.

What do you think is going on behind the scene ?

Do you think , because my spouse has a "Rejected PR Visa" by Australia, this is going to have a negative effect on our security clearance

Or do they check the all visa rejections before Medicals.

Please shed some light on this.

Thanks in advance.

Chazza

@ Scylla - What does it mean in the link http://www.ontarioimmigration.ca/en/pnp/OI_PNPSTUDENTS_JOBAPPLY.html#_qualify :

"Have completed a minimum of a two-year diploma or degree program, while studying on a full-time basis. One-year post-graduate degree programs and certificate programs, which require a previous degree or diploma (which may have been obtained abroad), are also eligible."

If I have completed a Graduation ( 4years) from India and after 2 year of Work Exp here ( in India ) , I pursue just 1 year of PG Diploma from Canada then Would I be eligible for PNP or not ????
