Hi,

I am sponsoring my spouse, who is in India. So, I am looking at country specific guide for India, IMM 3904. I am little confused, as point 4 and point 5 are basically asking same thing. So, I am wondering why are they asking the same thing again.

Point 4 States:

Travel Documents and Passports.

Photocopies of passports or travel documents for you, your spouse or common-law partner and dependent children.

And then in point 5, under proof of relationship to sponsor, one of the sub point states, provide evidence of relationship such as:

-Proof of your sponsor's visits such as airline ticket coupons, boarding passes, copies of pages of your sponsor's passport showing entry/exit stamps.

Can I show entry/exit stamps to visit my sponsor here and airline tickets ? But this would then be same as point 5.

Please advise if I am mistaken. Here is the link to India guide: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/pdf/kits/guides/3904E.pdf.

Thank you.

Hi,

For their official travel document, you'll want to include photocopies of the passport pages with their information.

Examples of documents proving that you have visited your spouse or vice versa include: boarding passes, entry stamps in the passport, etc. This falls under "proof of relationship". Use any documents you have to prove that you and your spouse have visited and spent time together. Photos, receipts, etc.

thank you for the reply. But doesn't that make point 4 and 5 same in the india guide?

No. A travel document has nothing to do with your trips. It is the official government-issued document that allows a person to travel, i.e. a passport or a refugee travel document.
