Hi,

I am an international student here in Canada and my employer accidentally made an error indicating the number of hours on my payslip. The accountant accidentally placed 67 hours for 2 weeks on my payslip in where it should only be 40 hours. I asked them if it can be changed, however, they said that it's already been submitted. What is the best thing to ask from my employer at this point? I do not want to be in trouble because of their mistake.

Thank you. Hoping for any solution.

So they overpaid your by 27 hours accidentaly? Just want to confirm if the mistake meant your were overpaid in your bank account

I have a commission that is the same amount as what they added on the number of hours. So that extra 27 hours is not my working hours, it was my commission. Where do companies report employees' salaries?

Commission is reported as your income on line 10100 and same time appears on box 42 on your T4 for interpretation purpose. Whether you worked or not, this is outcome of the work you are doing and is taxable. Now the challenge is, in T4 it doesnt show breakdown of number of hours, so is ROE. IRCC will do quick breakdown and arrive to how many hours you have worked if they want to go that way. Worst case and Considering that happens, and issue you additional documents request or decline your pgwp, onus is on you to justify. Unlikely your employer will make changes after reporting cycle.

I've never been to Canada and no expert on this, but if I were you, after all @Simba112 said, I'd get something in written from the employer on their letterhead that the 27 hrs were paid as a commission, so that you can include it along with ur PGWP application. In these cases, it is better to clarify earlier than to get "caught" at a later stage.
