Hello all,

My husband wants to call his parents for 6 months on general visiting visa. We would like to get some help on the process, what applications we will need to fill out and which documents we will need from India.
Your help will be much appreciated.

Hi Bryanna
I also wanted to ask if we apply for super visa what would be the procedure for the application process and would this be a better option then a TRV.

The application procedure is the same as applying for a TRV.... but there are some documents which you necessarily must submit with the super visa application (such as proving that your husband meets LICO + Canadian insurance coverage of minimum CAD 100,000 + a letter that states he will be financially responsible for his parents during their stay) + your in-laws must give their medicals.

As for whether super visas are a better option compared to TRVs: It depends on how long your in-laws want to stay + the entire financial focus will be on your husband and you (if you are a co-signer), etc.

In both cases, your in-laws must prove they have strong ties to return home to

My in laws are planning to stay for 6 months. For TRV how much we need LICO and insurance coverage we need. I also herd we need to show bank balance and property from back home, how much bank balance do immigration officer look for.

Hi,

First, we don't recommend mentioning a visit of 6 months as it indicates weak ties to the home country. Ideally, 3-4 weeks is what you would apply for.

For TRVs, the financial focus is on the applicants i.e. your in-laws. You don't need to meet LICO or purchase insurance.

That said, your in-laws must prove they have solid financials (to a large extent) + you may want to purchase an overseas travel medical insurance policy for the duration of their visit (this is not mandatory, not the same as super visa insurance).

Generally, there must be no large, last-minute deposits in your in-laws' bank account shortly before applying. If there are any deposits then do explain the source. Their bank balance/transactions must match their ITRs.

Unofficial guide: CAD 1,000 per person per week of visit + airfare

I suggest you go through the Visa Office instructions + this forum and then post specific questions on proving your in-laws' strong ties

Cheers
