You absolutely should not marry him the first time you meet him. Visit him 2-3 times before getting married. If you marry him the first time you travel to meet him, that will create a very high likelihood the PR application will be refused since IRCCs will have concerns this is a marriage of convenience on his part.

The fact that he is part of the caravan will further support the above (i.e. marriage of convenience) since IRCC will assume he is desperate to find a way into Canada. Again, do not get married on your first trip to visit him. Plan to get married on your 3rd or 4th trip to see him.

I agree. The fact that you are prepared to marry after only 5 months and on the first meeting will lead to your application to be refused 100%. As Scylla said, visit each other more than once to prove this is genuine and then if you still feel the same way, marry.

I appreciate your response
This is so frustrating
Understand that he is now a 2 x refugee claimant (US and now India). This makes him look like someone who is trying to do whatever he can to secure status in a country no matter what it will take (even a marriage of convenience). This complicates the situation. Even without the refugee claims, we never recommend that someone get married the first time they meet someone in person. You need at least 1 trip before you get married - in your case I would recommend 2.

You also really need to meet him in person and spend time with him in person before you make a decision to marry him. This is really in your best interest so that you can be sure of his motivations / intentions.

Good luck - hope things work out.

Absolutely grateful am happy and I will take your advice honestly. Maybe we could try a study visa for him does it have any negative effect because USA denied him?

He will have to declare all refusals and deportations. I know you don't want to hear this, but, in my opinion he has next to zero chance of getting a study permit with his history. Don't rush into things, meet each other a few times to see if you are truly compatible before making any decisions.

Ok thank you I owe you one . Thanks very much now what if I visit him earlier like next month , spend a month or 2 weeks him get to know him better then return to Canada then visit him again maybe September or November and this time if we compatible we get Marry does that make sense ? Considering India is very far and costly to visit . I wish I had found this site long ago

Better idea. You need to visit at least 2 time I would imagine, to make it look credible. Not saying it is not, but there are a lot of people that try to take advantage of the system and of other people. Make sure you know each other well before marriage even enters the conversation.

Thank you so much I appreciate now your my adviser so you give me the go ahead to visit him next month then go again the second time , Pending if we compatible and just marry on my second visit making it twice ? Sounds good?
Secondly I read Quebec has its own rules does it mean longer processing time if we file considering it has to go through Canada immigration and qubec
Last question does he have to just sill mainting Gabon as visa center since they only send it through courier because they handle visa only from Senegal or will he have an Inteview in India ? Please help

We are only ordinary people on this forum and are not in any way official advisors.I would say you cannot get to know someone in 1 visit. Visit a few times. But at the end of the day this is your choice, this is just my personal opinion.

I really don't know about the rules for Quebec so I can't really answer that question. Maybe someone else on the forum may be able to answer that.

As others have said, zero chance of a study permit approval with two refugee claims. Don't even bother trying.

Focus on strengthening the evidence for your relationship. Visit him at least once before you get married.
