Please Help! Need an honest opinion

Hi Guys,
We have applied for PR for my spouse to come join me in Canada. Here is our story I am going to give out all the fact and require your opinion on it to identify any red flags that might arise in officer’s mind.

We first met on yahoo chat back in 2002, my spouse was looking to study in Canada and wanted to get some info from someone who was also a student. We started chatting on daily basis for hours (we do not have any proof of that because my yahoo chat account has been “recycle” by yahoo for not using it for long time.

My spouse move to Scandinavia to continue the studies because his father passed away and he could not finance his studies in Canada any more. We keep in contact with each other mostly on telephone now. We do not have any proof of that because we did not thought it would be necessary to keep it at that time. However, we do have record of emails. Since 2004 to 2014.
In 2006 my spouse came to Toronto to attend a conference, I paid him a personal visit, things went “well” between us, we even rented a hotel room together and spend 2 week. We have lots of picture as proof.

We have been in continuous contact with each other and in 2009 my spouse applied for TRV to come to Canada to meet my family. He got 1-year visa, visited me, and meet my whole family. However, unfortunately we do not have pictures for that trip.

In 2010, he again applied for TRV to come to Canada so that we can continue with our plan to build family together, but it was refused because the purpose of the visit is not covered by TRV.

In 2010 my spouse lost his job and he went to university again to upgrade his education and graduated in 2013. In 2012 we both met again in USA and spend 3 days together in LA and then finally head to Las Vegas for a week and we got married there. None of our family member participated because it was not physically and monetarily possible. However, we decided to have reception in both of our home countries. We spend our honeymoon on Long Beach, CA.

We send all of our papers in may but they were returned because they were incomplete and finally again they received our application in October for PR.

We never financially supported each other because we both work and never a situation has risen that requires financial help from each other. It is our first marriage, age difference is 3 year, we have different culture/religion and quite honest we both are not very religious.

Proof attached with our application are:
• Email correspondence since 2004.
• Facebook chat 400 pages.
• Telephone bills for last year years.
• Pictures of me and my spouse from 2006, 2009, 2012 visit.

Hi,

I guess you have pretty solid application. One of my main concerns is the marriage in Vegas without the presence of any significant family members of both sides. I guess the best thing you can do right now is make a short information why you don't have any family members present in your wedding and tell them exactly your reasons. And also letters from your family members and to your spouse significant other (parents and siblings) supporting your marriage and Permanent Residency Application would be great.

Overall, as long as your relationship is pretty genuine, solid and continuing and it seems you have all the proofs. You shouldn't have any problem. Goodluck!

I submitted letters from both of our families and most of the applicants here submitted a letter together with their application supporting their application for Permanent Residency. I think it can make a lot of difference to the VO.

I can understand why they submitted so many pages, due to not having early records of communication. The officer is just going to have to suck it up and process the application. Who knows, may be they will read many things that makes their day.

That was the reason to submit so many pages. Actually i have blacked out most of the details that were intimate and personal, i am not sure if Visa officer is going to enjoy anything ;D

As long as relationship is genuine, papers submitted authentic, there will be no problem getting PR. Meanwhile, try to collect missing information and more papers to substantiate relationship.
BTW what was the specific reason for not getting last TRV?

That just means, a TRV is for visiting. But since he intended to build family together, then it meant he planned to live in Canada, so needed a permanent resident visa, not TRV. Hope this clarifies it.

We tried but since our old yahoo account has bee "recycled" by yahoo, it was impossible to get missing information. But CIC knows about our relationship for long time, because they have already issued him TRV to visit my family before we could start with building family together. And the problem with phone record is you can only go 6 month back, so we have kept record of last 2.5 years.

We never ordered notes for TRV refusal (honestly did not know before joining this forum that you can) the standardize letter we got was the purpose of the visit is not covered by this type of visa, and we are not sure if my spouse will leave Canada. We stated the purpose to start building the family together if TRV was issued (quite stupid, eh?)

That just means, a TRV is for visiting. But since he intended to build family together, then it meant he planned to live in Canada, so needed a permanent resident visa, not TRV. Hope this clarifies it.

Thanks SenoritaBella for clarifying, you know in refusal letter they do not give the actual reason it is pretty much standardize, and since we never ordered notes, that was also our over take away from the letter, in short i needed a PR visa to build family.
