Hi all ,

I wanted to apply for study permit in Canada. My situation is that I will be self-funded to my course's fee but will stay with my relative. Therefore, i didn't need to pay for my transportation, accommodation and living expenses. Besides that,I have sufficient fund for my tuition fee + require amount for living expenses. So my question are:-

1) In the application form for study permit, there a column that ask " My Canada expenses paid by"--> Who should i write? Myself or Other(relative) ?? But i personally prefer to name myself as i pay my own study's fee.

2) If i mentioned i will be staying with my relative during my study in Canada for 1 year, will it jeopardize in getting a study visa? will they think i might not leave Canada after my course?

3) Anyone had the same situation like you have sufficient fund to prove you can support yourself and able to buy return air ticket(to prove that you will leave Canada at the end of the course) and staying with relative in Canada and you success in getting a Study permit issued to you. If there is, mind to share your successful stories?

4) If the fund's name belong to my name and other person name (joint venture account) in an bank account, does it still count as proof of fund under "MY NAME"(as a submitting document during the application) or i MUST prove the bank account solely with my name only ???

I'm in confusion now.
Hope to hear from you all.
Thank you very much.

Although you will be staying with someone else, you will have to show that you have the fund to stay on your own over there. So, you don't have to mention anything about your accommodation secret.

Since you have a joint account, you will have to mention about the other account holder's part too since both of you have the same right on that money. This can be shown through different ways (varies between countries). Like for Bangladesh and Pakistan, you can give an affidavit while for India, there are other ways like reference letter I guess.

You don't have to mention anything about your relatives anywhere in the application. Only details needed are about your immediate family members.

Please help me ...............!!!!!!!!

Thank you for your reply, rhasan :). The affidavit that you mentioned from your replied, just would like to check with you that how you obtain your affidavit ?? from the bank or lawyer??

Besides that, i had applied for TRV for the past few month to visit my relative in Canada. So during that TRV application, i had actually write my relative address which the address is near to the area of my college, so will it compromise my study visa application even though i won't mention my relative's accommodation in the application for study visa application form. i have other question as below to ask:-

1) Am i allow to apply study permit and temporary resident visa(TRV) at the same time? And if the answer is yes, so at the "accommodation column" of TRV, what should i fill in, any suggestion ?

2) What is the minimum amount that i should put in for accommodation(at Burnaby, Vancouver, BC) for 1 year Diploma course?

3) What is the minimum amount that i should put in for living expenses too ?

4) Do i need to submit also a "Cover Letter" for my study permit application??( I had work for about 5 years and decided to go for study now )

5) I have more than enough fund to support my living expenses and pay my fee for 1 year course. But the checklist in the application of study permit said that " You must also show reliable source of funds for the duration of your academic program" . So will it comprise my study visa too even though i have more than enough fund but it just that i'm not generating income during the period of my study in the program?

Please help me as i'm still feel confuse..
All your helps will be highly appreciated.

Thank you for sharing

The questions that you have asked (affidavit, whether or not to fill up both TVR and study permit form) is country dependent. Like I am from BD and I had to get the affidavit from lawyer and filling out the study permit form entitled me to receive TVR automatically. Recently, I came to know that you have to apply individually for both permit and visa (filling out both the forms) while in India, they don't trust affidavit and you need other supplementary docs. So, it would be better if you would say which country you are from.

For all the accomodation and living expenses, refer to the university website as they should have cost of living calculation somewhere.

Thanks again to rhasan for your unconditional reply.

I had also opened a bank account under my own name in Canada. I had a relative in Canada who will financially support me in my study but i did not intend to mention it during my study visa application as i will only said i'm self-funded as i also able to show sufficient fund at my own home country and shown i had been working for 4 years and now decided to go for study again.

1) Besides showing my home country bank account,i will also show my parents and my wife bank accounts which i think will give more stronger support in the study visa application. So in my case, should i put myself or parents or other that will fund my study?

2) Will it look suspicion to visa officer if my relative will only bank in moderate amount of cash to my bank account in Canada from time to time ? It is a must that my Canada bank account had a bank history of at least 6 months too ?? Is the bank history of at least 6 months only applicable to the home country bank account and how about account in CANADA ?? im sure there is someone out there need to start their study in just few month right

3) Will the visa officer question about the moderate amount that shown in the transaction or from the bank statement that we to submit along with the study permit application?

Please share and comments. All your helps are highly appreciated!!!!
