Download practice listening questions from the internet (you can find them in google) or from here.

I wouldn't waste my time listening to songs or watching movies - just practice listening to IELTS-Style questions so you can get used to the information.

Listening for IELTS are short and compacted with lots of information and key points.

Listening to songs isn't good because they speak too informally - they didn't make songs for people to learn English. They use bad grammar and the songs are often about nothing.

Movies also have lots of informal ways of speaking, therefore it won't help you out too much - also, movies are 2-3 hours long, it's too long and wastes too much of your precious time!

Good Luck!

Actually my test result is not declared yet, it will announce on 1 Nov 2014, but I am worried about my listening and reading band, any 1 of them i can get 5.5 band, will I still be able to apply or not.?
I also mentioned my first language English instead of Hindi in IDP IELTS test details. will it effect on my result ? Thanks.

No - it doesn't matter what your first language is.

Meh... OP says he/she has problems in speaking, so I thought movies would help. IELTS speaking is chatting with informal/small words, so movies work fine. Obviously listening benefits as well. Plus movies are FUN! It's always easier to learn when it's fun. 2-3 hours won't feel long :P

if you get 5.5 in module it may not reflect your chances but if you get 6 bands in each then it will just brighten your chances
all the best

If you get a 5.5 and wants to apply under NOC 0 or A jobs - you will be ineligible.

Scoring a 6 will make the applicant eligible - but will not brighten their chances.

CEC is a pass/fail system - if we all pass the requirements, just because I score better than you doesn't mean I will get PR faster.

I am also confused in skill level category, I will apply for Software Engineers and Designers (NOC 2173). so is this code in skill level 1 or skill
level B ? for this I will require 6 in each. rite sir ?

Yeah 2173 is NOC A, so IELTS 6 minimum for each category. I think the way NOC code works is that you look at the second digit: it's 1 for 2173 so it's NOC A. If it's 0, then it's NOC 0. Otherwise it's NOC B.

For FSW - the minimum score allowed is a "6"

The scores are eligible for CEC - which does not apply for you guys because you need to have 1 year of work experience in Canada to apply for it.

Since you can only apply for FSW - therefore both you and your wife are ineligible.

Hi,

Is it a good time to apply in Dec 2nd week '14 in FSW for NOC 2171 ?

What change is going to happen in CEC once express entry comes in '15?

Is 5.5 Score in Listening , 6 in Readin , 6.5 in speaking and 5.5 in Writing is enough for CEC ?

Thanks

NO - you must scored at least a "6" for all four sections to be eligible
