1. Do we need any consultant to go ahead with the process or can we do the needful by self.
2. I am MBA Project management from Sikkim Manipal University. Will it be accepted for Educational Assesment. it has following recognition

The Sikkim Manipal University, Gangtok is incorporated under the State Legislative Act (Act IX of 1995) of the Government of Sikkim.
Sikkim Manipal University is recognised by
University Grants Commission(UGC)

3. I am getting WES ECA done , is that fine.

4. What are the different stages and when we need to do the payments.

5. I am applying under 2171 category, is that the correct one for IT consultant.

Any light thrown on these question will be of great help for me

1. Do we need any consultant to go ahead with the process or can we do the needful by self.
Start here http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/apply-how.asp to see if doing everything is your cup of tea. Any which ways most of the work involving gathering the documents and getting IELTS scores will have to be performed by you irrespective of whether you hire a consultant.
2. I am MBA Project management from Sikkim Manipal University. Will it be accepted for Educational Assesment. it has following recognition

The Sikkim Manipal University, Gangtok is incorporated under the State Legislative Act (Act IX of 1995) of the Government of Sikkim.

Honestly what the University calls 'recognition' won't matter to WES or ICAS. If they recognize it, good enough. If they don't, doesn't matter what recognition the University claims you will not be able to claim points in FSW for that.

Start by taking the free online assessment and see what report you get.

3. I am getting WES ECA done , is that fine. YES

4. What are the different stages and when we need to do the payments. First stage is the application process itself. Please check the URL provided earlier for complete details.

5. I am applying under 2171 category, is that the correct one for IT consultant.

The title does NOT matter. You have to check the duties and responsibilities for NOC 2171 in HRSDC site and make sure they match your present and/or past experience (for at least 1 year in full time or equivalent part time).

Any light thrown on these question will be of great help for me

Hi Kapho,

You seem to be on the right track and nishesh3003 has provided you with the correct information.

Regarding the payments, you need to submit your processing fee with the application itself (better if you can pay it online and then print off the receipt and barcode to hand in with the application). If approved, you will have to pay the Right of Permanent Residence Fee (most people opt to pay for all the fees at the beginning because if you are not approved, your RPRF will be returned to you).

In terms of hiring a consultant, you do NOT have to use the services of a professional consultant, but if you do, please make sure they are registered and in good standing with the Immigration Consultants of Canada Regulatory Council (you can google ICCRC and they have a tool in there where you can search for a consultants name). Please always used a consultant that is recognized by this body (the consultant themselves can live anywhere in the world, but to practice Canadian immigration law, they need to be registered with THIS council).
