Hi Seniors! I need you help or somewhat advise on my situation.

I applied for CEC and received my AOR last April, My work permit is expiring on Nov. 21, 2014.
Here's the catch, I know I am eligible to apply for BOWP. With the grace of our Lord I received an LMO yesterday with my new NOC code. (my employer applied an LMO because my PR has not been approved yet)

Why new NOC code? ---> My employer wanted to give me a raise and change my job title from 1211 to 2253.
I applied CEC under 1211 NOC code.

Questions;

1.) Will I apply for a Closed work permit using my new LMO or just wait in August to apply for BOWP?

2.) Since I applied under 1211 code in CEC will there be any problem if I change my code? Since it is a promotion?

Thank you in advance for taking time to read this and give me advise. God Bless!

I was in the same situation. My company applied for the LMO and in the meantime I applied for the PR under CEC. By the time I get the AOR and my company get the LMO approved. What I did. I applied for the BOWP first (because it would allow me to work for any one) and hold the LMO in my hand. Since LMO had a six month expiry date, recently, I applied for the work permit based on my LMO because it will give me the work permit for three year because if something happen to my CEC application then I will apply for FSWP based on the LMO. To apply FSWP with AEO, I must have valid work permit issued on positive LMO. I also confirmed with CIC that I can hold multiple work permit at same time and both will be valid.

Hope this would help you to decide.

I have BOWP in hand and application for LMO work permit is in process. I am expecting it in one or two weeks. I will let you update when I get it.

I'm not so sure about the advice from canadacec123 -

According to the current instructions for BOWPs (last update 2014-06-04) on the CIC website, holding a valid LMO disqualifies you from eligibility for a BOWP -

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/resources/tools/temp/work/prov/bridging.asp

canadacec123 may or may not "get away" with the plan to hold two work permits (depending on timelines) but with the current rules, you cannot EXPECT this to work for you. You have an LMO, you are not eligible for a BOWP.

So my suggestion would be to be apply for the TWP with the LMO, and when you get it, celebrate the promotion!

I agree with you jes_ON. Like I said, my employer applied for the LMO and myself for the CEC. I got the AOR and my employer got the LMO. I knew this rule and I chose to go with AOR first. Having LMO work permit will disqualify me from the BOWP but having BOWP will not disqualifying me to have LMO work permit. One can hold multiple work permit at same time. I could not find the information on CIC. But following may help you to understand.

canadacec123 --- > I know you got your BOWP now, what about the LMO work permit? Did CIC approve it already?

I am waiting for that. Decision has not been made yet. I will update you about the result.

Thanks...

Today, my LMO work permit application got approved. I will let you know once I get it. FYI, my BOWP will expire in February, 2015. I had to mention my current valid status document number (BOWP document number) in my LMO work permit application.

Having said that, based on current rules pointed out by jes_on, you may not be eligible for BOWP. I also looked at my LMO approval date, it is after I put the application for BOWP.

Hope this would help.
