Hi I am a 23 yr old female, no health issues that I know of as yet and I've applied for IEC. I have no worries about the police report but I am going through optional counselling for my anxiety and slight depression as I am in my last year of uni and my sister was unwell last year so I was feeling down the doctor prescribed anti depressants but I didn't take them and have not asked for anymore. I am feeling a lot better I am just so worried that I will fail the medical exam does anyone know if this is something they could consider unacceptable ?

Any information on what happens in a medical exam would be so appreciated thanks guys xxxx

Dear Jenni,

Nothing to worry about. To give you an idea, they will do blood test, urine test, x-ray, eye test and physical test.
Doctor might ask you some questions like if you smoke, any serious illness in the past, do you have any tattoo (in some cases I know people had to do additional test (hepatitis B & C) because of having a tattoo).

In my case, while doing the physical check with doctor and despite having tattoos, he didn't ask anything. He simply check my fingers, tummy and legs. Didn't even bother to ask if I smoke, have tattoo..

I'm just worried about the whole seeing a counsellor side of things if they are going to see that as me needing to see someone in Canada which won't be the case , did they as you to provide your medical history or ask you anything about anything like feeling depressed in the past . I have read that some of the things they count as bad is depression as it's listed in mental health or something ...sorry to nag haha

No, I was not asked for any medical history. In the medical request letter they do mention that if you had done any x ray, surgery in the past to provide the details. and yeah, forgot to mention that in some cases if they noticed an scars while doing the physical test, they will ask for explanation. So its up to you whether you want to mention about your depression or not, but better be honest. In my opinion your case is not a big deal..let me know if you have urther questions.

When I've went for my medical, they took an x-Ray of my lungs, urine test, blood test, measure my height and weight and took my blood pressure. Also there was asked which medicines I take dayly and asked me if I have had surgery in my live before. They haven't asked for a kind of personnel medical history file or whatever.

I'm nervous about this as well.

My partner has been diagnosed with depression, anxiety and Borderline Personality disorder. She used to be on medication and she went through therapy in a hospital. She has since not been on medication or been in therapy and is completely stable with a few bad days a year.

On her health exam the panel doctor gave her a B in the mental health section, indicating her depression, anxiety, and BPD, but he wrote "stable, no meecatipn required."

Does this mean we won't be refused on medical grounds?

if you're applying through spousal sponsorship, she won't be found medically inadmissable for anxiety/depression. there's no reason to worry about this, it is a non-issue.
