PLEASE HELP! I am a Quebec resident sponsoring my US Fiance.

Hello,

My fiance and I have been in a relationship for 7 years and are now ready to get married.
I was born in Quebec and my fiance in Florida, we have no children, he is 35 and I am 30 years old and he will be moving to Montreal.

We need advice! Should we get married here in Montreal before we start the application process to sponsor a spouse?
Or can I apply to sponsor a conjugal partner and then get married once he lands?

Is it better to apply while he is outside of Canada or should we apply while he is here?

Please help ! This has been a long process for us to finally get here!

You can sponsor him as a common-law partner but you must have lived together for 12 months to do so.
Applying ouland is was faster process.
If you havnt lived together as a common law partner, get married in Montreal or wherever you chose, and sponsor him. I hope this helps.

You must be either married or common-law in order to sponsor your partner.

Conjugal is NOT an option for a Canadian-American couple. There are no legal or immigration barriers preventing you from marrying or living together to become common-law.

Outland is always the better option for Americans. He can be in Canada as a visitor while an outland app processes.
