Job Offer........
Pre-Assessed..
Hello everyone, any response to my post will be appreciated!

My common-law partner has applied for a job in Canada, and is waiting for a positive LMO from the employer.

When the Canadian employer sends a copy of offered employment and a copy of the LMO to him, what happens next?

Do we have to fill out a temporary work visa application out? Or when we arrive in Canada, just show the documents of his offered employment/positive LMO, medicals, common-law application and proof of funds and receive the work permit at the entry gate which we will then be given the temporary visa?

Please help ???

you need to apply for a work permit at the canadian high commission in your country.
you may refer this link to have the idea of the process .

Hi,
I am about to apply for work permit too. I have a positive LMO and a job offer from a Canadian employer. I have been reading a lot lately of how to go through the process. We have identical case. I am bringing with me my spouse and my son too. This is the way I have understood the guidelines:
1. You have to file for work permit by filling up the form IMM 1295, and together with all the documents listed in the checklist you have to submit these to the responsible CIC office where your country of residence belongs. In the form there is a space provided to indicate if your spouse and child are coming or not with you to Canada.
2. If everyhing is well, they will give you and your dependents the TRV visa together with a letter. These documents are not your working permit. You have to show this letter and the visa on your passport to the visa officer at the port of entry. Then the visa officer at the port of entry will then decide wether or not you will be allowed entry and gives you the working permit. This is the final stage of the whole working permit application process. It in at this stage the visa officer will decide how long He will allow you to stay in Canada. That depends on your LMO and your job contract.
3. If your NOC belongs to category O, A, or B, and your work contract is more than 6 months, then your spouse is eligible for an open working permit. Again this open working permit will be applied at the port of entry. Validity of your spouse's working permit is the same as yours.
4. If the accompanying child is a minor, and expected to go to a primary or secondary school in Canada, there is no need to file for a student permit application. You just have to indicate in your IMM 1295 form that your minor child is coming with you to Canada.

Seniors, kindly confirm if my understanding of this whole process is correct or not. Thank you.

Hi aspire!

Yes, i'm under the same understandment of this process as you are. I was just hoping someone was in the same position to give me a bit of peace and mind!
We're from the UK so a TRV isn't necessary under what i have heard which is even better as we will just have to wait for the work permit to get sent back to us. Shouldn't take up to more than 8 weeks *fingers crossed*
Also my common law partner's job is in the skilled level A so hopefully a OWP will be issued at the port of entry when we arrive!
I hope all goes well and smoothly for you and your family :)

Thankyou for you post!
