Hi,

My boyfriend is a PhD student who wants to apply for FSW-PhD Stream. We are thinking of getting married in the summer. I am canadian citizen and he is an international student.

We were reviewing the CIC forms and a few questions raised. There is no where in the forms which asks about my status in Canada (which is citizen). Also the following forms are required to be filled by both the Principal Applicant and their spouse. I believe this is for partners who also want a PR to stay in Canada, right?

Additional Dependents/Declaration (IMM 0008DEP)
Additional Family Information (IMM 5406)
Travel Documents and Passports
Identity and Civil Status Documents
Police Certificates

So my question is, am I included in his application? am I a dependent? Should we provide proof for our relationship? and should I provide my background in his application too?

I would appreciate it if you provide me with some insight.

If you are Canadian citizen, why you need to be included in PR application ?

That's my question too, i copied the following from the document checklist, they dont specify to include or not include the spouse who is already PR/Canadian Citizen... That's what confuses me!!!

Schedule A: Background/Declaration (IMM 5669)
Additional Family Information (IMM 5406)
Completed, dated and signed by everyone in the following list:
  • the principal applicant
  • spouse or common-law partner (whether they are accompanying or not)
  • each dependent ....

You have not married to him.......later on when he becomes PR and citizen , you can legalize your relations in Canada itself

Please take expert opinion , i am just giving my thought
