Hi there, Just a quick question. I recently met a girl and we fell for each other, she is from England. We've been seeing each other for about 8 months now and want to take our relationship further and try living together.
She wants to move to Canada to work and live with me for a year. We are very confused by everything and we just want to know exactly what she should apply for. She doesnt really have an education but has work experience.
When we apply for a work permit it says she isnt eligible and that we need a letter of employment, however how does she attain this when we have no idea as to when she will be able to come here? Should we just apply for a visitors permit and then apply for work permits when she is here? Or does anyone have any advice on what to do about finding work here? Anything will help, thank you in advance.

UK citizens don't simply qualify for work permits. There are basically only 2 ways she would be able to work in Canada.
1. Find an employer willing to hire her, and that will go through the LMIA process to secure her a closed work permit. This means they must advertise the job and show no Canadian is qualified for it, and go through the processing time and cost ($1000). As you can imagine, only workers that have a skill in demand would be able to get a work permit this way.

2. Get an IEC/Working holiday visa for an open work permit. However spots are limited.

She can always simply travel to Canada as a visitor at any time. Of course as a visitor she is not able to work. And when entering Canada as a visitor she would need to show CBSA she's prepared to leave within 6 months (though in actuality she can extend her stay once here).

1. Should note that IEC for 2016 is changing, no longer will first come first served get an IEC work permit when the program opens. See: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/work/iec/pools.asp

Job Offer........
Pre-Assessed..
If she's under 30, she can enter the pool and hope she gets an IEC visa. That'd give her two years in Canada to work. Once you live together for a year you can sponsor her as your common law, or if she gets a suitably skilled job, after one year she can apply for PR herself.

Otherwise, she'd need a Canadian employer to hire her and get a visa for her, for that to work she'd need to have some sort of skills that are uncommon in Canada as the employer would need to prove they couldn't find a Canadian citizen or PR qualified to do it.
