As far as I know, as a PR, you have to be in Canada to sponsor the child, whether you use a representative or not.

hi leon
i talked to embassy today they are saying why don't you use a representative who can submit your application from Canada. but do you think it's possible i don't think so. plus they said you have to sponsor the child. but i did'nt understand about using representative if it would be that simple it's not a problem then.
Did you tell them you are a PR and not a citizen? Do they know that you must go back soon to meet the residency requirements? You have to reside in Canada if you are PR in order to sponsor.

According to http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/resources/manuals/ip/ip02-eng.pdf page 15, you can not sponsor from outside Canada. Using a representative will not change that.

Did you already apply for a TRV for your baby?

So your first step is to apply for the TRV. If you get the TRV, you go to Canada and that's it. If you don't get it, then you move on to the next step.

Believe what? You show them your PR card, you are a PR. You show them the baby's birth certificate, that is your baby. You need to take the baby to Canada to sponsor him for PR. That simple.

Hi,

I hardly see reason if the baby will get TRV. I recalled on this forum*, someone mentioned the same problem and unfortunately visa officer refused baby TRV, on ground of possibility of becoming PR later. Which, ofcourse, was the case.

As Leon mentioned, the best option in case, God Forbid, of TRV refusal, go back to Canada and sponsor your kid. This will sustain your PRship and you can sponsor your kid. Ofcourse you need to have a job for that.

As you are waiting for reply from CIC ministry, you can also call CIC call centre for TRP.

* I will paste the link for the similar case on few forums I am aware of about Immigration.

Wish you all the best and as its Ramadan time, best time that a prayer will be accepted by almighty.

Best Regards

Apply for the TRV first. If denied, apply for TRP. You don't need a job but you can't be on welfare either.
