Please guys i got this email from Uni of Saskatchewan.....what are my chances.
I am so worried

Hello,
Thank you for expressing your interest to study at the University of Saskatchewan and join the Department of Computer Science.
This year we saw an increase in the number of applications we received. The department received 479 requests for admissions from students all over the world. Unfortunately, we only have a limited number of seats to offer to students.
However, I would like to extend the opportunity to have your application considered for the Fall 2020 intake. Your application was very strong and we hope that you would consider attending the University of Saskatchewan at a later time.
If you would like to be considered for the Fall 2020 intake please let me know and I will carry your application forward.

Kindest Regards,

Graduate Program Assistant

Hello there,
It clearly states that you have no chance for the intake you applied. It also highlights the courtesy being offered to you (That is, your application will be considered for fall 2020 if you desire it and inform them).

Absolutely yes , you have been guaranteed admission for Fall 2020.
You need not to worry as the department has clearly stated that your application is strong. Meaning you are the type of students they want .

Cheers bro.

It is not a guarantee. If it was, it would clearly state that instead of stating that OP will be considered for fall 2020. If a whole bunch of candidates apply next year that are stronger, as happened this year, OP will be refused again.

But it still means chances are higher than this time....

I agree with you guys on the fact that admission is not guaranteed .However, several factors were put forward by the admission team before coming to a decision that , his admission is considered for September 2020 intake.
Looking at it from that angle, his chances of gaining admission is high and for that matter he shouldn't worry.

Cheers bro.

Disagree. It depends on who else applies. If the same applicants apply for fall 2020 he/she will be refused. If less strong applicants apply for fall 2020 he/she has a very good chance of admission. I would recommend applying to some other schools. Canada has become a very sought after place for international student because of PGWP, our exchange rate and other factors like Brexit and Trump.

He should worry.

This letter was a very polite way of saying "you're not good enough, others were better. We will look at your application again next cycle but it's not guaranteed."

For him to have good chances next cycle, you have to assume that the average quality of students will be lower than the current cycle.
