Hi ,my questione is, I working in AB like truck driver and I want change my employer,my work permit expire on Mart 8,
I find other employer and he will apply for new LMO tommorow,what is best to do I dont think he will get LMO before mart 8 !!
To aplly for new work permit without LMO or change my status in visitor or please give me advise,how legally stay in Canada,Thanks.

Hi,

I think it's better that change your status to visitor as soon as possible.
How long you can stay longer as visitor depends on Service Canada's officer.
As I heard, you should apply it at least 90 days before the expire date of your current work permit.
I also heard that people can't apply new work permit without LMO. (It was fine in the past but currently it's denied)

As you said, it's best that your LMO coming soon and then you will get new work permit before March 8... because your case isn't same as extending your current work permit, you cannot work under your new employer before you get new work permit.
If you get new work permit before March 8, your processing fee for temporary resident visa will be refund.

It depends on when and where your employer has applied.
I'm working in BC, and when my employer applyed LMO for me Jan, 2012, it took 2 months and half. However, my friends in Toronto needed over 6 months at that time. Each employer had applied LMO January, I got it March but my friends in toronto got their LMO June or July.
I don't know how about current season... Just hope you get yours soon.
